We are still owed a pick from Dallas as a result of that trade. We sent Hill to LAL for the Dallas trade.

At this point T-Mac for 2 1st round picks. A 16 in this draft and a future 1st from Dallas.

This could be a sign of our luck turning around finally. Let's get Steve Francis to represent us at the lottery. We could be the first team to win the jackpot at #14.

Steve Francis as our lucky charm could bring us some Finer Things...if you know what I mean.

Or trade 14th and 16th for 15th. Wouldn't that be awesome?

We still have a chance at a top-3 pick, albeit a very small chance

Deep draft means lower picks are more valuable. We can trade down and get some good players in late first round and early second round.

Package our veterans for picks or one star, and draft in the deep talent pool. Imagine getting Bosh(Gasol) with Lowry, Scola/Martin and then getting talents like Faried, Marshan Brooks, Parsons, Thomas, Vucevic in the late picks(I know it's hard but this year is supposed to be deeper than last year?).

Plus Martin, who has been solid as a Rocket. Or whatever we trade him for.

This is not a deep draft.

14 for Boston's 21/22. They can get rivers.

This is a deep draft. At least deeper than the past ten.

Im quite sure Morey will flip the 14th and 16th and get us a top 3 pick. Can't wait for our next superstar.

    He tries this every year.

ONLY if Lowry was in the deal; and only the #1 pick would be worth such a trade.

    Probably.

No it doesn't. A deep draft just increases your chances of getting a rotation player in late first. We don't need rotation players, we need difference makers.

What's so exciting about Faried, Brooks, etc? They're decent players, but none of them will ever be all stars. If we just magically added all those guys to the Rockets today, we'd only be slightly better.

Why would anyone not want to do this?

The Rockets can find the next group of good players much easier easier than they can find the next Dwight Howard, and they even have enough redundancy in talent where a multiple-player-for-one deal makes sense. The draft picks are nice, but the Rockets also have enough young guys, including upcoming rookie Motiejunas, so that bringing in 2 extra rookies is not a critical need.

Faried is one of the most productive players in the league, and is the best player on the nuggets. He's better than any of the rockets, and is responsible for a large portion of the nuggets strength. He's an absolute monster. If he was on the rockets instead of scola and/or post, wed be a .650 team easily.

So you would trade both of our first round draft picks+ some of our starters for a Dwight Howard rental? You know for a fact Dwight isn't gonna re-sign with Houston if he comes here.

    Prob been answered elsewhere, but....

Due to the first rd pick we owe to NJ, we HAVE to make a first round pick this year?

Since we are not guaranteed a first rd pick next year (due to potentially sending it to NJ) and since a team cannot be without a first round pick 2 years in a row... therefor, the only way we could package 14 and 15 in a trade would be if we got a first round pick (for this year or next year) in return. Am I understanding this correctly?
So we couldnt (for example) trade 14, 16 and Scola and/or martin for a player, unless we get back another first pick.... right?
