I'll be taking it June 2nd and I'm done with finals next week. I figured a month would be good enough to prepare for it. Any advice on study material besides what is offered on the GMAT website?

J/k, I took it years back and got a 350 when my school required 400. Regardless, I got my MBA

Took it in 2005, the counselor said not to worry because my entrance would also be based on my undergrad GPA and letters of reference. All of these out weighed the GMAT score.

Study material I used didn't prepare me enough. So I have nothing to recommend...sorry

A lot of good graduate business programs require 600+... I suggest take figure out where u stand by taking a practice test using a legitimate test prep textbook/cd. Most of them will provide feedback and you'll be able to see what areas you struggle most with. Start studying there. But be sure you don't focus completely on that. You want to continue to study what you are good at cause no matter how good, you can still improve. After enough studying and practice problems. I suggest you do nothing but timed practice exams. Do multiple exams a few times a week for about a month or two. A couple of days before the exam, don't do anything. Just relax.

Ahh yes, IDK why I completely forgot about GPA. Maybe cause my undergrad GPA wasn't so good.

Well my counselor said that I should be good with anything from 400-450 with my current GPA. After going through a couple of the practice questions test from the software I'm getting a little nervous. Maybe I should have not scheduled it so soon but I need to get it over with if I want to be admitted in the fall.

Can't remember, it's been 7 years. I did poorly on grammer and math, but aced the written. To me this was the easiest, so I would suggest not to spend a lot of time on the written portion.

You don't need to be smart to get an MBA.

When I get back to my apartment I'll check out some book I received at some Princeton Review event at my school. It had a bunch of information regarding the GRE GMAT and LSAT. If I see anything useful I'll let you know.

What are you trying to get? Your goal will determine what study methods are best. I just took the GMAT in March and wanted a 700+. None of the Kaplan/Princeton guides are really meant for that, they are designed to get you to the 600-700 range at best.

I found a great series of books on Amazon from Manhattan that really helped me. I didn't get every book, just the ones on Number Properties, Word Problems, and Sentence Correction, but I found them quite helpful on shoring up some of my weaknesses.

I ended up with a 750 which was a little better than I had practiced at, so I would recommend this series if that is your goal.

Had a 660 and I think I can somewhat vouch for what TMac is saying here; felt like campus recruiting all over again with the crappy transcript. Personal statement and three rec letters still wasn't enough. I think with so many people applying, and obviously with it being grad-level work, even middling state schools might not have a choice but to push for higher and higher GPAs. Keep your G.D.M.F grades up in undergrad.

I'm aiming for at least a 500. My counselor said a 450 with my GPA should be good enough to be accepted. If it makes any difference this is for UHCL.

450 is kinda low, isn't it? Gosh, it's a long long time ago. I think I got 793 or something with quite a bit of studying, but my buddy just showed up on the day of test and took it cold. He got something like 400s. Of course he is the one who has a PHD title today, not me.

I take it back. You guys are talking about GMAT not GRE. Gee, I just figure out. Well I never took GMAT. it was GRE.
But why MBA straight out of college? You probably will be better served with a little bit experience first. I had one MBA course while doing my law degree. The stuff is pretty abstract, marketing this and that. I am not sure anybody can run a business just with that. Are you good with numbers? I heard iBanking and other number related stuff in MBA is easier to get a job.
