    Assume the Rockets draw the 14th pick. Next, consider the picks and players the Rockets have available for trade. How high do you think the Rockets could move if they should so choose?

    If Washington was at 2 and we agreed to take Blatche and Rashard, we could probably get that pick for nothing but cap space and expirings. But that's really meaningless.

    You have to look at the players involved. I doubt nobody gives up the #1 once they have it. There may be a trade or two before the lottery but I seriously doubt if any pick is traded without top 1 protection at least.

    Now, back to the players. Anthony Davis is definitely #1 by a mile. Who's next? Opinions are very split on Drummond. Personally, I wouldn't want to trade up to 10 to get him. I think he's a bust.

    Now, Thomas Robinson, MKG, or Beal. What is their value? What are you willing to part with to get one of those guys? If Portland would up at #3, they might take Lowry and our picks for #3. Would you do that? It all depends on what else is available.

    The first thing we should all be concerned about this offseason is what is going to happen to Dwight. Is the SAS rumor true that he is going to request a trade, throw a fit, and tell Orlando he isn't signing an extension with them? If so, they more than likely will move him at this point. Because if Deron signs somewhere before they trade Dwight, then they lose a ton of trade leverage. So, really, the first priority is what is it going to take to beat out all trading partners for Dwight and still have cap space left to sign DWill. Because if we trade for Dwight it is very likely that DWill will follow him here.

    So, really, I'm more interested in what is it going to take to acquire Dwight. Once DWill signs elsewhere, or once Dwight is traded elsewhere, then the focus will shift to other stuff, what we can get in the draft.

    Don't be surprised if the players we draft and the deals we make on draft night surprise you. We may be drafting for Orlando or somebody else. That is, if we haven't traded those picks before then.

    Doubt we'd have to trade up to draft him. I don't think he'd be worth trading up for anyway.

    a couple of trade scenarios I could think of:

    1. Rockets trade Lowry + Pick(s) to Portland, moving up in draft (currently 6th, could move into top 3);

    2. Rockets trade Martin to Twolves for Anthony Randolph (S&T? is it possible) + 18th pick;

    3. Rockets trade Lowry + Scola to Heats for Bosh + 27th pick, could work if Heat s not winning a championship this year;

    4. Rockets trade owe 2 picks + acquired pick (Twolves or Heats) to a pick in top 10;

    Overall I think we are set in a position to make a big splash in the offseason once again, but could fail to do so yet another time...

    I think it always depends on the draft -- is it top heavy or balanced/deep? -- and team needs. My guess is combining 14 and 16 alone could get you to maybe 10 in some drafts.

    Who falls flat in the play-offs - - answer that and then you can look where the optimal trade possibilities lie.

    if we're targeting portlands pick it would be no higher than 6, top 3 protected + no chance of getting the 4th or 5th pick based on how the lottery is structured

    I would like to see us move up 2 times in the top 6 picks using everything we have less Donatas Motiejunas and Chandler Parsons there is no sents saving for the future or holding on to what we have - if it is going to be like the last three years, IMO.

    Andre Drummond (bust or beast?) & Bradley Beal(soild role player or star?) with Chandler Parsons (Is this it or is there a next level to his game?) & Donatas Motiejunas(Milicic, Scola or Nowitzki?) with a resign Goran Dragic (if we can?). YES, that is way young and there is no way we resign ALL the players in three/four years; but we may not want them ALL then anyway plus we all know DM the GM is the best at filling in the holes to make the TEAM work. Let's start the next era.

    one if not two of this players will become /is a super-star

    I would be happy enough drafting Meyers Leonard and Terrance Jones. I woudnt be happy giving up both those guys or similar talent unless we can get someone who can make an immediate impact now.

    I think we need to go all in and offer both picks+Morris+Martin for a top 5 pick and look to take on a big crap contract in return.

    WILD SHOT.

    If the Wizards move down a few spots in lottery we might be able to give them both our picks+Morris+Martin for their pick+Blatche.

    Here is the real question.

    Assuming we move up, how long will that draftee play with the Vipers??

    Depends on how well the draftee performs. Parsons spent 0 time with the Vipers.

    The question is which of the teams are will be willing to make a deal. My guess is SAC and Detroit are candidates to be willing to trade their pick.

    Bad poll. Was going to vote 2-? until I saw that you had 1-3. Anthony Davis is 100% untouchable. But IMO everyone else can be had for the right price. The Rockets may not be willing to pay the price, but they are probably available.

    Realistically, 6-10 range is probably where I see the Rockets can get to by trading 14 and 16.

    I think 8 is a definite possibility

    6 & 7 fall under the "it could happen" category for me

    1-5 would be a miracle
