I would be fine being known as the Ravens/Steeler's of the AFC South. A nasty D is awesome to watch. It also leads to short fields, turnovers and wins. Thank god we're not the Dolphins.
Not too surprising. I always felt a pass rusher was more than likely in the first even though I did buy into some of the smoke screens of fleener or a guard. Lulz at some of these people flip
I've been watching the Texans bro, and the offense would be a monster if they had a serious threat on the other side of Johnson. When this scheme was run at its finest in Denver, there was Rod Smith & Ed Mcaffery. Blocking is fine, but WRs get paid to make plays in the passing game. This PR line about his blocking is like saying the ugly chick has a "good personality".
A monster? You mean like top 5 in the NFL 3 years in a row? Even with all these damn injuries to everybody NOT named Kevin Walter? That kind of monster?
To be a monster you would have to have players that were recent leaders in TD's, receiving yards, rushing yards and passing yards. Ah crap.......
#58 33. Hill 34.Fleener 35.Glenn 36.Randle 37.Jeffery 38.Silatolu 39.Ta'amu 40.Osemele 41.Sanu 42.Upshaw (no) 43.still I'd trade up for any of those guys.
What about getting Egnew instead, possibly in the 3rd? He was a monster year before last when he had Gabbert throwing to him.
Donny we'll agree to disagree on Walter. You like him, I know we can do better. There very good prospects in round 2. Anyways, I love our 1st rounder. He'll take Mario's spot in the rotation. Big time potential for this kid! Wade getting more toys, gotta love it!
I think Walter was a fine #2 when he was catching 50-60 balls but he's 30 and has gradually been declining over the past 4-5 years. I don't expect him to perform up the level he was when we were a top 5 offense. We do need to upgrade the position. Not only because Walter has gone from being an average to above average #2 to being subpar, but because we don't have anyone on the roster capable of even being a fill in #1, now or in the future. Blocking is fine and all, but the primary responsibility of a receiver is to catch the ball. If you can block while at least being seen as some kind of threat, that's great. But if you get to the point where you're not a threat, you'll probably hurt the passing game more than you help the running game. Ideally, Walter should be a #3 at this point.
Aldon Smith and Jason Pierre Paul each had only one good year in college. Freakin idiot 49ers and Giants for drafting such scrubs.... He doesn't need to start or be a full time player to be an impact player. Aldon Smith was a situation rusher/rotational player and won DPOY
I can only imagine how many trades will be happening in the first half of the second round. There's so much good talent left, and a day to mull it over. It's going to be crazy. I hope the Texans trade up for a receiver. In this order: Fleener, Randle, Jeffrey, Hill, Quick, Sanu. Someone like a Cordy Glenn or Upshaw would be awesome as well, but the more I stew over the fact that there are some potentially really good receivers left, the more I want us to jump up and get one. I don't want to sit pat with Walter and Jacoby anymore.
I'm happy. Love Wade controlling the defense.....happy with the depth after losing Mario. And Barwin on a contract year. Now, trade up for Fleener.
Who said I liked him? I'd rather have a better WR2, too. Not because I think Walter sucks, but because I want someone who can eventually take AJ80's place when he's out. Problem is, there is no rookie WR who could come in and do Kevin Walter's job better than Kevin Walter. The skill set we ask our WR2 to bring to the table are not typically the strengths of rookie WRs. For that reason, you can kiss any idea of a rookie WR starting goodbye.
Walter does not produce to what he is being paid. He gets no separation, but is a great route runner. He would be good in the slot. Texans need a better second receiver who can take over for AJ's annual injury as a competent number one. Walter is not that. A rookie receiver can especially replace what Jacoby brings to the team. The rookie may not have as great of route running skills as Walter (for now), but still get more yards than Walter.
Of course, this depends on what receiver they get. Receivers like Hill and Randle just as good of blockers as Walter is now, too. Walter can be replaced. Jones even easier.
