I don't think anyone is saying that. I'm certainly not. Clutch responded to you earlier and was clear that there was risk in any plan. There are no guarantees. But there've been a few reports done on the subject stemming from the sports analytical conferences saying that it's easier to rebuild through losing in the NBA....and Darryl Morey said that very thing before this season started.

I'm just super tired of this team rolling out the same product year after year now. It's not on Morey's head that they haven't won more than one playoff series in 15 seasons...but it's the reality of where the franchise is regardless. That puts us in the category among the worst franchises in the NBA. There is no sport whose regular season means less than the NBA's does, except for maybe the NHL.....they're not an entertaining product putting out the 8th/9th seed fighters. Ticket sales will tank next year whether ownership/management make that choice for the team or not. I don't see this franchise getting out of this funk without taking its medicine and finding a true elite level player in the draft....right now we're nothing but a bunch of role players with no elite player to complement. I just don't see how that's going to change...and in the NBA, you don't contend without that sort of player (1st/2nd team all NBA).

I care about this franchise...I just hate what it's become.

I agree with this. Trading for Gasol is trading for a Robin. We have Robins. We have a whole roster of Robins. He is not a 1st team/2nd team All NBA sort of player. Not anymore at least. That's what it takes to go win a championship in the NBA. I'd like to at least have a roster where I think it's remotely possible. That's what you build for....not to hopefully make the playoffs in a league where more teams make the playoffs than don't. Not that great of an accomplishment.

Not to mention we would have lost Gogi in that trade, which again calls into question this orgs ability to properly evaluate talent.

You're going to hate it more if they become the Wizards, Bobcats, Clippers (until Paul landed magically in their lap), Kings, Nets, etc.

I'm just wondering if we're gonna bust hump tonight to beat New Orleans and lock up #14. No tanking ever.

it would be nice to play some of our players who need development; like Morris. It may come as a shock to McHale and Morey and Les, but there is value in playing young guys who need court-time to get better, especially when winning the game actually works against your efforts to become more competitive next year.

I'm already furious with this organization. I just might lose it if i see vets like Scola playing 30+ minutes tonight.

I just don't see that happening. Morey can acquire bit pieces to make this team an 8th/9th seed type team in his sleep. That's something I know he can do...and I trust him with the draft. I'd happily give up a season or two of this 8th/9th seed garbage to take my medicine and have some hope that we're going somewhere ultimately with the type of player you have to have to matter in the NBA. I don't think that's going to happen through free agency at this point. Honestly, I trust Morey's ability to draft far more than I trust his ability to persuade that sort of player to come play here.

Why do we have to suck like the Bobcats? Why not suck like the Blazers did this year? They moved almost all that weren't in their future for picks ad expirings. Now they have space for signing players like gogi, potentially 2 1sts, and 2 2nds.

    Just wait guys.

We already know Morey isn't satisfied standing pat.

We're just now out from under Yao's contract.

We're going to see some serious moving and shaking over the next 10 months.

This is exactly how i feel. If we end up playing all of our starters for extended minutes to get this meaningless win, then I have lost all hope in this organization. I would be fine if we give guys like Morris extra minutes to carry the team and see what he can do. Even if we came out with the win by using our bench I would still be satisfied. But if we have a chance to get the 13th pick instead of the 14th, then we better not try to win this game Mchale

Yeah, and you saw a lot of changes.

So, you have no reason to expect more of the same over the next 10 months.

And what do all of those teams have in common? Cheap, inept management that pinches pennies on scouting and hire bottom barrel GMs. The Bobcats in particular have been a seminar in how not to run a franchise (have two lottery picks? Forget BPA or need - use both draft local college kids to make your regional fans happy!)

Lulz at thinking a losing season will turn a team into the Clippers. Only if you have to take Sterling in as your new owner.

The Nets have been to more Finals than we have in the past 15 years

Wizards were semi competitive in the Arenas era, despite their bad GM addiction and refusal to get that you shouldn't build around a shoot first PG.

Kings are being run by bankrupt owners that can't sell because their debt is so bad they might come out upside down. And even they are showing signs of promise, thanks to Cousins.

And a team obviously missing in your list is the Pacers.....except that sucking for a long stretch has finally shot them up into homecourt.

Don't worry too much about the Rockets trying hard to win tonight.

Seems like it'll be a where-the-chips-fall sort of thing.

Morey on 610: Parsons is out; they'll play Morris and he named a couple other guys whose names elude me, they were signed this year.

So, play the bench.....(reading between the lines) and if we "happen" to lose like Phoenix "happened" to lose last night, WE'LL get the #13 pick and grab the player that slides in the draft, and Phoenix WON'T get him! (evil laugh) Bu-WA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA!

That's right kids, you read it here.

In terms of talent, Nene + Gasol < Gogi.
