That's why I would be throwing Lowry at them. Although he is not great, he is very good. Go for the little used big in Kanter and hope he pans out.
I have to admire what they've done. It involves separating the memory of Karl Malone and John Flopton from the team they are now, and that's tough. Especially since the Jazz have made all the right moves while we're still a hamster on the wheel.
That was almost 20 years ago, and I wasn't even a NBA fan back then. Losing to Dallas in 05 hurt, but I could manage since that was Yao and Tmac's first year. We were full of hope and full of future. 06... we were just hurt and tanked season. We got Battier in return, which wasn't bad. But 07, that was our best team since the mid 90's. We had no excuse losing to Utah. None! And that season... was Yao's last healthy season. Everything went downhill from there. Everyone here points to the Stockton shot, but what hurts me the most is the Boozer rebound (over Yao) in game 7. That one hurt like a mother.
Utah doesn't have a new arena btw. Got re-named, but it's not new. And it'll always be the Delta Center to me as long as they're there.
He was last season but he has been sneaky good for them this year. He has made some big shots for them and can be disruptive on defense, he's back on track.

The only thing that provides some comfort is despite their better performance today, and better young assets, they still don't seem to have that consistent all-star young guy to ride for years to come. Favors is young, good and getting better, but I'm not sure I see all-star appearances, much less Dwight-like. Kanter is pretty much a ? with regards to potential. Can certainly get better. Does have game, and size. But what will he turn into... I don't know? And those guys effectively play at positions where there strength already is. It's never bad to have extra talent at a position to trade for better pieces, but are the Jazz ready to move either Jefferson or Millsap, or alternatively Favors or Kanter? I don't think so at this point. So how do they get meaningfully better, and go from an 8th seed to a home court advantage, deep playoff run, championship potential type team?
Not sure they'd do that. How about no way in .... they do that? Favors for Kyle??? Come on, man. Utah is letting those big guy simmer and simmer until the cream rises to the top. They they'll trade away one piece of sledge for help at the other positions and keep 3 legit big time bigs.

That's part of who they are. They have loud/vicious fans who boo at everything and intimidate refs. It's not like there is a policy prohibiting the Rockets fans from being that way. We just don't support the same way like they do. Also, the Jazz is located in freaking Utah, a place where no FA wants to go. If you want to talk about unfair advantages, say something about Miami, LA and NYC.
Two rings is great and all but 1995 was a long ass time ago. I still have nightmares of Boozer taking Yao to the back of the woodshed, Korver blocking McGrady's shots and Alston building a brick house. And this is going to be a LONGGGGGGGGGGG off season while the young Jazz players gain a wealth of invaluable PLAYOFFS experience.
