Another thing about Houston's diversity is that with its growth being relatively recent compared to the other top 3 cities, I don't think a lot of the groups are "entrenched" or factional like they seem to be in New York or lots of the northeast.
Atlanta is a better city. Even more diversity than Houston, a music and arts scene that is frankly more happening and innovative than Houston;s, and from a subjective point of view, I think Atlanta has a lot more character than Houston does. The things Houston has going for it...the economy is a big one. Houston's economy is doing way better than Atlanta's, and Houston is much wealthier. It also has much better jobs in up and coming industries like oil & gas, healthcare, biotechnology, education, etc etc. Atlanta just needs more high tech jobs.
it's cheap as hell to live in Houston, which means you can have a higher standard of living (huge house, sweet whip, eat out all the time, etc) good flight connections where you need to fly to (assuming you're stuck flying commercial) hot squaw willing to spread their legs the list goes on and on
not sure I buy the Atlanta diversity point. More blacks, fewer Hispanics, probably about the same # of Asians. Very segregated city. Very snobby in some parts. It does have a lot of character due to its history. I've spent a lot of time in Atlanta and don't particularly care for it.
Nope (Red is White, Blue is Black, Green is Asian, Orange is Hispanic, Yellow is Other). Houston is very diverse. It's one of its best features and comes with having so many jobs. Atlanta is still pretty segregated as shown in the mapping. Houston is an example of what United States of America should and wants to be about because U.S. is all about the freedom no matter what race you are. I am still proud to call this my home.
I'll take a couple months of 95+ temps as long as I don't have to deal with snow. If you don't like Houston, why ya even posting in this thread? It is about Why We Love Houston, its obvious y'all dont so posting here is a waste of your time.
Clean air. Good weather. Easy commute/low traffic. Successful professional basketball & baseball teams. Clear water beaches. Low Crime.
12 month lifestyle (warm winters) Friendly people Great and diverse food Very low cost of living Great business environment for my particular industry Diversity This will sound strange, but as someone who has traveled the world, I find it quaint meeting so many people that have barely been outside of Texas.
I agree. I've lived in Atlanta in the past. It has a much better music scene, especially indie rock. They also have a botanical gardens, something that Houston does not. There is just so much more to do in ATL. I always felt the people were nicer over there as well. Only downside to ATL, is the god-awful traffic. I lived in Buckhead and rush hour was basically from 1pm-8pm. More educated folk over there as well. If I ever move back to the States permanently, I would choose ATL over Houston any day.
