I for one, am pinning all my hopes and dreams on Motiejunas. He is going to come in and be our superstar, our Dirk, for a decade, and lead the team to multiple championships. (the only way to endure the drudgery of daily reality is to dream of a better future) The future's so bright, I gotta wear shades. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/8qrriKcwvlY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Hey guys, after a long break I visited this forum again and want to share a few ivaluations of him and some info too. First of all his team Asseco Prokom started to play in Poland League Playoffs idk it well. But 1. 15 pts, 5/6 2s, 1/3 3s, 7 rebs, 2 steals, 1 block, 2 TO. 2. 34 minutes, 23 pts, (8/16 2s, 2/4 3s), 13 rebs, 3 blocks, 3 TO. D-Mo showing a great post skills in Europe. Many people sad that he scared to play in post but you cant say this now. Great spin, post hook and more. Also he is more self-confident. He shots often, yes he is the team star but this is all that young player needs. About his contract. After team coach Pacesas (who is Lithuanian) left the team chances too see Motiejunas next season are maybe bigger. In my opinion we should trade Scola to give this player freedom to create his shots, to show a confidence to him and than we will see the reasults.
we all know that girls high school is a more physical brand than what commissar stern and his minions have create so one of the things he will adjust to is not breathing on any of the divas. He is put on the pounds, now heavier than his Jonas brother, even rebounds better than him. can some one do a head by head comparison of D mo vs jonas brother? points in the paint, perimeter etc etch...thanks in advance
I mean come on man everybody coming into this league is compared to someone that's already been in the NBA, even if they don't live up to the expectations! I believe he's going to be a great player even if he only lives up to Bargnani or comes close to Dirk it's a win seeing that he was drafted #20. The team has no direction & right now nobody is safe from trades & this could be a start on a much needed building process! Don't bash the guy yet! By the way, spell the mans name right it's Motiejunas!
I can say you more about the future, D-Mo will play for Lithuanian national team this year if will be no injuries, so more experience guaranteed before he go to Houston Here in Lithuania fans angry that coach don't pick him for Europe championship last year, so after that kind of grow up he must be in team and i'm sure he will!
Thanks for the post Houstanas and welcome back. If you look at this Houston Rockets team roster, there is one glaring weakness. Other than Scola, there is absolutely nobody that can score in the paint. The McHale offense has been damn near unwatcheable at stretches this season because teams know this offense like the back of their hand. Its pretty easy to defend when you take the teams only low post scoring option out of the game with their defensive scheme. If Donatas is able to bring that dimension on a somewhat normal basis he should be a major factor next season. Especially with a full offseason to work with McHale & co.
of course LOL, chill. It's only my personal judgment. First of all Polish league for one is pretty low ranked compared to Spanish, Italian and so on. Second, and you base your believe he's a future superstar based on what, hope, stats from Europe? Seen many eu players go bad sort of speak when entering the NBA. We just have to wait and see, I guess.
Thanks for the update! How is Motiejunas' defense so far this year? Does it look like he will be able to defend NBA centers or will he have to play power forward exclusively on defense?
Come on now. What lineup have the Rockets had on the floor for almost every single 4th quarter this past season? The PF/Center position in McHales system is pretty interchangeable. Motiejunas might actually have more trouble with alot of the power forwards in this league because of their high offensive skill level rather than just schere size. Plus Gerrson Rosas mentioned on 610 the other day that Donatas is up to 240 pounds. He's bulked up alot with the intention of playing the post in the NBA.
how is what i said dangerous or inaccurate? Im a poster on cf, not gerson rosas, daryl murray, les, bill worrell, clyde, or anyone with clout. also does it matter how long they were at rio grande? the point i was making is that it might be a bad thing if we bring motie over because our team is win now (which we wont). he has a bright future, but i feel he will be treated like david andersen.
I agree. We need to change to mindset of the team from win now to develop players and find a core to build around.
So you guys really think we have the equivalent of a top 10 pick this year if he decides to come over?
After I watched that one practice vid, I was sold on this kid. I definitely don't think he's going to be going to the D-League. Has Morey ever sent a rookie from the Euroleague to Europe? I don't think so. If I'm wrong correct me. Under McHale's tutelage, D-Mo has a good chance of becoming a star. And he's only 21. On another note, I still have high hopes for Morris. His first year has probably been really discouraging but I think if trades take place this season, he'll definitely get steady minutes. He needs to find his niche on the team since McHale isn't going to design plays for him. I'm worried for Bud and Pat though. If Morris and Motie come in next season looking anything like Parsons did, they're gonna get buried.
Yes, and he is coming over. The Front office has gone out of their way to make sure everyone knows he's coming.
Tomas Pacesas interview: - Remembering the videos in which you screamed on Donatas Motiejunas. What did he do wrong? - A player does not perform good at all the times. I think that after arrival in Poland Donatas has become a better basketball player. Now he is more experienced, and we helped him to emerge. After this season he will be mature enough to take responsibility and play at a higher level. - Will Motiejunas adjust to the NBA? - I don't want to make quick conclusions. At first he need to go there and start playing. Donatas career was heavily influenced by his parents and I am glad that I had the opportunity to interact with them. It is a pity that he only played in Poland one season, I would have liked to see him here 3 years earlier. Going to the NBA, I think, you should go when you have created a good image of yourself in Europe. We have the example of Arvydas Macijauskas, who was possible the quickest 3 point shooter in the world but simply was ignored by the coach, and was ruined.
I hope that Rocket's will value him and won't trade for some pick, he's in fact very underrated. He was top 5 draft pick back in his young days.
