Oh, you must like it when people break into your house. How was that one wrong? You can use deadly force to prevent burglary, which is clearly laid out in Chapter 9 of the Penal Code (Texas).
You have a strange idea of justice. Most people don't think that burglary carries the death penalty. It's hard not to question the morality of the idea that burglary merits the death penalty especially when one person is judge, jury, and executioner with no due process.
A fair point to bring up. The only evidence there is suggests that Zimmerman followed him. Zimmerman himself said he was returning to his vehicle, and Zimmerman's gf who was on the phone with him mentions multiple statements which indicates Zimmerman was following Martin.
yeah, that's right. The media had no reason to question why a guy with a 9mm who killed an unarmed teen who wasn't involved in any criminal activity wasn't arrested. Do you understand the common use for the term witch hunt? It's when something bad happened and the public starts going after anyone who has only minimal matching criteria as those who might be involved in with the incident.
The only reason the media cared about this case was because of race. It allowed them the opportunity to pursue a preferred racialist narrative. That's why it was a witch hunt. If Zimmerman were black, nobody would have cared. Not Crump. Not Sharpton. Not Jackson. Not Obama. And certainly not the media. A dead black kid only serves their racialist purposes when he is killed by a white person.
Is it possible that the media hype died down just a little bit when they figured out that Zimmerman is actually not white, but also a member of a minority?
Not going to rehash that one, my points were. I don't always defend the shooter The courts dont always get things right (in my opinion)
The challenge is that crimes are not "declared." Is someone illegally breaking into your house to lift your jewelry or to slit your throat? Even if you ask, they don't tell. Such an event can only be named a burglary or a rape or an attempted murder or a murder after it is over. Who wants to wait around to find out?
Anyone who believes that you don't kill someone because they are "possibly" a threat. Supposed mind reading isn't a good reason to take someone else's life. In Joe Horn's case, he knew they weren't a threat. For someone who claims to be so pro life, you place very little value on somebody else's life. In a fight, you don't throw the first punch. That's true even though somebody else might intend to hit you. You don't shoot someone unless you or a loved one's life is actually in danger. You don't shoot people because they might be thinking violent thoughts.
Let's not ignore the obvious: in the scenarios I've described someone has entered your home illegally probably in the dark while you are asleep and without your permission.... and you're willing to wait and ascertain their intentions? Like I said, criminals don't declare their intent; they usually disguise it. I don't really remember the details of the Joe Horn case so I'll not comment at this point. I place a great value on life-- especially INNOCENT life, but to make things clearer down the road, you and I both may refer to me as Anti-Abortion rather than pro-Life since you have a problem with the nomenclature.... Again, most people aren't mind-readers and don't have cat-like vision in the darkness so if you value the lives of your loved ones more than the scumbag who has broken into your house... fire away at will. They are not there by accident; it is their intention. I don't even own a gun and, in fact, have never even fired one... if that lends flavor to these points I'm making. Also, I don't break into other people's homes... for the record!
They were a possible threat to Joe Horn because he left his house and confronted them after expressing his intent to shoot them.
If it's true that Martin swung at a bus driver and it is presented as evidence in court, there goes the innocent kid thing.
Zimmerman's defense team hasn't brought that up, and as I've said in this thread, that claim is highly doubtful. Martin wasn't suspended for anything of the sort. Also it wouldn't spoil the innocent kid thing, because if that happened (it would have been in the past in an unrelated incident. On the night of his death, Martin was innocent. He was walking home, and talking to his girlfriend. It's odd that people want to go out of their to point out that Zimmerman wasn't doing anything illegal in following and questioning Martin, but are willing to toss out Martin's innocence for all kinds of crazy claims.
In the case you mentioned it's ridiculous to assume the intruders are there to kill you or a loved one, unless you have some crazy, criminal, dangerous enemies. People do burglarize homes. People almost never break into a random home with the intent of killing the people there. While it might have happened, it is insane to presume that's the intent of anyone in your home.
It depends on what the adult did. But either way it doesn't make Martin guilty of anything on the night the innocent kid was killed.
GZ got into trouble with the law a few times and had a temper problem. If this becomes character assassination I bet GZ is getting the 2nd degree murder charge.
