If you are interested in how the Rockets can get better this offseason....signing Dragic and trading some combination of Lowry/Martin/Patterson/Budinger/picks is the most realistic way that gets done. There is no one that fits our team worth the money as a FA....so letting Dragic walk isn't a step forward if you can't sign anyone else of value. I truly believe the team runs better with Dragic out there anyway, regardless if Lowry might be the better player overall....not a lot of PG's like him succeed for long.
This pretty much sums it up. I'd only add that Lowry will still have good trade value and that we should be able to net a top 10 pick for him. I understand everyone is low on the guy at this very moment but his injuries are not serious and when he is on the floor is nearly an all star with a cheap contract.
I thought we could keep both, but after reading Clutch's (and Stevierebel's) posts, I must assume that Lowry will be dealt.
Exactly my thoughts! I want Dragic back next season. As much as I'd like to see us sign someone it's just not likely or anybody worth the salary. With 4 days left in the season hopefully the NY pick goes from 17-15. #13,15 would be great & use one to package along with Lowry & others to net us a player to change the outlook of this team.
Lowry is the better point guard, he is better at distributing the ball, he's a different type of player than Dragic. Lowry didn't get an infection from playing hard. That being said I like both Lowry and Dragic. If I was Lowry I would be pissed to because Mchale went and messed up a good offense and made us miss the playoffs.
Who says Lowry wants to stay with our ****ty team anyway? He's been here 3-4 years and we're still not going anywhere.
My reliable source has told me that the Rockets will be back for the 2012-13 season. The source also told me that a majority of the people in Clutchfans still has the backing for the Rockets.
At the trade deadline I would have said that Lowry was the only guy I really wanted them to hold on to. Now I don't know that I care either way anymore. Lowry has been my favorite of this bunch.
Lowry should have never played after the infection. It's creating too much crappy talks after the losing streak of 6... Should have waited after the season like Martin
I feel the same way. Whatever makes the team better. If that's without Lowry, so be it . DM won't make a trade for the sake of making one. He'll deal Lowry if he gets adequate value in return.
I'm still amazed how quickly everyone around here turned on Kyle and warmed to Dragic,I am a fan of both, neither are top 5 in the league but given lowrys contract and what Dragic is about to be paid in FA, Kyle is a solid point guard to go with the rest of our mediocre team.
People are realists, they can see Kyle's shortcomings. A better option came along, it happens, same thing happened when Kyle got the starting job. Doesn't mean Kyle sucks, just means the team found a better player, and both deserve to start, so you trade the one on the value contract. It makes perfect sense. Kyle is a fiery, tough as nails, emotional, PG. The guy competes, and loves to do it. He will land on his feet somewhere and be a good PG for years in the league. DD
I don't think Dragic is necessarily better, he hasn't proven it over more than 20 games (and I'm a fan) he's a better defender and probably has a better jumper but kyle has a few things on Dragic too. Kyle's contract is excellent value for money, Dragic will get paid big.
