Lol. This Is suppose to be discuss and debate more like accuse and complain. You can't ask questions on here because you will labeled as team Zimmerman or team Trayvon.
An NBC employee got canned for editing a 911 call. There's plenty of evidence that he was stereotyping Martin. Keep in mind I didn't say he was racist - he was doing what many people do on a daily basis - making judgements about people based on preconceived notions. Most isolated from the incident would have just seen someone walking in the rain. Martin on the other hand saw a criminal - why? According to neighbors there had been repeated robberies committed by African Americans the past year. Martin was black. It's clear that Zimmerman knew that based on the call. He also knew there had been a string of robberies and saw a tall black man out at night wearing a hoodie. His immediate reaction was to grab his gun, call the police, and tail him. Why was that? He immediately stereotyped (Noun: A widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing: "sexual and racial stereotypes".) him as a criminal. He was young, black, and out of night and there had been a string of crimes lately committed by people of the same mold. Did you pay attention to what Zimmerman was saying in the 911 tape? "They always get away"| Who. "He looks like he's on something" | Because he's walking in the rain with a hoodie? "He's running" | Because he's guilty of something.
You are making assumptions and guesses that are not based on fact. Zimmerman said he was walking slowly and suspiciously. Nothing you posted proves he was stereotyped.
Maybe it was put that way because that person has no authority to issue "orders?" Anyone know for sure?
Sure, that explains the 3 other comments I just listed which supports the conclusion that he was stereotyping right. People who walk "slowly and suspiciously" are on drugs I guess.
You're emotionally invested, which is leading to bias. You didn't post any relevant facts to support a conclusion that Martin was stereotyped.
There is no question the media coverage on this case was initially biased and facts were twisted. I tend to think it wasn't some grand conspiracy but lazy, poor journalism more interested in breaking the story than reporting it honestly.
According to you, Granville, and Nook. I might as well be talking to the wall. Who next - BigTexx? I really don't have anything more to say - anything in depth you disregard (see the multiple longer posts made by several people throughout this thread) anything simple, you twist. We'll see what happens when he gets sentenced. You'll decry the system. That very same system you thought wouldn't even charge him.
I've simply been asking for more facts since the beginning. Martin's lawyers have tried to convict zimmerman in the court of public opinion with biased and one-sided evidence. That's not right.
Not sure why you dragged me into this. For what it is worth I always expected he would be charged and very possibly convicted. If you dragged my name into this based on my assertion that the initial media coverage was biased, I stand by that and the facts support that assertion... That does not mean he is innocent though.
Sorry, that post where you quoted quoted Gwayneco didn't load correctly. For some reason it looked like you'd written it. My bad.
If that were the case I'd believe you. As someone who saw how you didn't express any remorse towards Martin whatsoever (until you got called out for it) and immediately jumped to the conclusion that Martin had done something to incite Zimmerman I'm a little skeptical. Since then you've immediately discounted any evidence which has put Zimmerman in a negative light while accepting Zimmerman at word value. I already know how this will turn out. Anything but not guilty is unacceptable to you.
no, I was frustrated and outraged from the beginning that the teenage boy was shot and killed and the killer wasn't arrested. we will let the justice system play out now. you're still asking for more facts, it appears. I have avoided the same conversation for almost a month from the same four or five posters (who all responded to my last post about racism) with the same boring nonsense about media bias, pictures of the dead boy, the public's perceived race of the killer, and a bunch of stories about angry violent retaliations by the Black Panthers and the like. you few seem to be most concerned with the above than the fact that the unarmed boy was shot dead on the street. it is worthless to even engage in debate. so I will point out my views on what I perceive as a few posters getting all hot and bothered when the word "racist" gets thrown around. the same posters. in every thread about race.
Zim said he thought he was black. Zim thought he saw a burglar/thief (which I'm sure Martin was anyhow http://www.wagist.com/2012/dan-linehan/was-trayvon-martin-a-drug-dealer) If Zim had stopped or helped apprehend a burglar, he'd be praised. The burglar attacks him, and you know the rest. There isn't anything wrong with stereotyping. We're all guilty of it.
