I wondered if the source of Kyle's infection could be some kind of strangulated pelvic hernia-- something unusual. Guess we may never find out. Get well soon, Kyle. Kevin, too.
Wow, I didn't think that about Lowry. Martin, yes, but I thought Lowry did great the first half of the season.
Saddest thing is, we (quite some) saw how Lowry's performance affected the whole team. We should've never forced him in which is exactly how I saw it at the time and now that McHale admitted it. Dragic + Boykins was working. How ironic that most of us are relieved we can back to the team the way it was when the beat Chicago & LA. Should never change a winning formula!
Im not sure what would be the reasoning for Lowry's trade value to be that bad going into the summer. He performed well in limited minutes, and most GM's wouldn't be turned off by a bacterial infection, and a hernia. Martin on the other hand I agree. However, if the Rockets pull a trade where they need a big chunky salary in the mix, he'll be a key piece in that deal. There's a low risk/high reward value to a gm that gets him in back in a trade.
No kidding. Besides that, it makes no sense to trade them at the absolute bottom of their value. Martin is an expiring, so he may go this offseason either way, but you need Kyle to showcase his stuff early next year if you want to get the bang for your buck.
I respect your insight and perception however I don't see how Lowry's trade value is hurt? (Is there a situation where a GD SnT could realistically be imagined? I'd think not, but if there were and the price was right I'd certainly be happy to open '12-'13 with #7 as my 1. I just cannot imagine a deal with KMart that does not include taking someone's very bad contract back (ok, I could see KMart + Lowry or GD + Bud for Jefferson + Harris + Bell; but would I want to??? ...).
This explains alot. I still think Lowry's still got value. The kings could definitely use him (to bad that's where rocket player go to die )
Lowry's play had nothing to do with the losses in the 6 game loosing streak. There were a few games where he was actually a bright spot. Teams learned how to defend this team. They packed the paint and forced the Rockets to live by the 3. The team lost so many games because they didnt adjust their gameplay at all even in a 7 game stretch. I put that blame on the coach if on anyone for not coming with an alternate gameplan.
Sorry let me rephrase, inserting Lowry back affected the whole team. They were not used to him anymore, Dragic played differently and McHale's failure was to force it and not use Boykins anymore. He should've eased in him and see how it works. Now he relied on Lowry which wasn't what we needed, especially with how Lowry was playing at times.
Saying the second half of the season torpedoed their trade value is a little much. Martin already had bottomed out and Lowry had an infection and hernia.
Martin I can see, he just doesn't fit in anymore. Lowry, why would lowering his value mean he is done here? If anything, it would mean he is more likely to stay as opposed to the team selling high on him to get a star. Rockets aren't just going to dump him.
Trade them for whatever you can get: draft picks, expiring contracts, etc. This team needs to rebuild.
