Hurt the player and hurt the team. How long to recover from a sports hernia surgery and rehab (asked the jerk who wants to get value for the guy so we can re-sign Gogi)? And Martin should have had surgery or whatever WEEKS AGO.
This should have been done a month ago, but you know what they say about hindsight. They say "lol hindsight"
When I had a sports hernia back in college I walked out of the hospital after the anesthesia wore off. I was supposed to stay away from activity where I might strain myself like lifting weights, etc. You can run and do some light workouts even days afterwards. Its really just lifting weights that you shouldnt do. Wasnt major for me. Ive never had an injury like KMarts but I grew up in a baseball obsessed family and have seen this injury with my brother who was a pitcher. My brother never had surgery but played for years with it being a constant nagging injury. Nagging injury being the key word. Its one of those injuries where he's going to spend about the same period of time rehabbing with or without surgery most likely so unless its a bad tear that has to be repaired there's almost no point in surgery.
I think it was more Lowry wanting to play than McHale wanting him to play. We were playing great with Gogi/Boykins so we really didnt need Lowry.
Their trade value would be low. Other teams would want to see how they play when they are "back from their injuries".
Noticed I did give a timeline. Doctors told me two to four weeks to start lifting again. Saw the doc for my 2 week checkup and he cleared me to start working out again. For the Kmart injury who knows. Could be one of those injuries that takes all summer to rehab if he works hard enough rehabbing it. Im not his doctor, but the rehab will probably be a 4 to 6 week program that will take alot of patience and he will have to follow the program to the tee if he doesn't want it to be nagging for the forseable future.
We just can't seem to get a lucky break. First T-Mac and Yao literally crumble before our eyes. Stern vetoes the trade in the beginning of the year, and now the two players we're most likely going to trade are injured and have lost nearly all of their value. It be nice to play in New York where all we would need to do is clear cap space like the Knicks did.
