Do we realistically have a shot at signing Howard this offseason?

How many other teams will be in contention for him? I know he wants out of Orlando. Has he expressed any interest in signing with us this offseason?

He's not a free agent this summer now. If Orlando opts to deal him, I'm sure the Rockets will make a strong effort. I would assume it would help if NJ does not win a top 3 pick.

That is an interesting point. IF we had tanked, we might have been able to land a top three pick. A top three pick would have been very nice bait to dangle in front of Orlando. I doubt it would have mattered, though, because Blight Howard would probably not consider jumping from Orlando to Houston to be an improvement.

No, but do you think that would realistically ever deter jopatmc? Dude's relentless. The pie is never in the sky with jopatmc.

Yes, gotta hope NJ gets a Top 3. Because yes, I believe it is definitely in DM the GMs wheelhouse to reel in Howard.

Our advantage is that not many teams other than us will trade for him without an extension.

If Orlando decides to move him this offseason, I think we will be the frontrunners, as the Nets will have next to nothing to trade, due to the free agency of all thier major pieces

If they wait till the trade deadline, this can change quickly and we could fall out of the running.

If we manage to get him via trade, in my personal opinion, we will have a good shot at keeping him. Los Angelas and New York will be capped out. New Jersey will likely lose Deron to Dallas, so there would be no real reason to go there. Dallas could be trouble, but they would already have 2 max guys on thier books, so Howard would have to take a hefty pay cut to get there, probably close to 40 million dollars over a life of the deal lost.

No......we don't have a chance at any big name free agent with the team as currently constructed.

Just what we need, a center coming back from back surgery. Maybe we could swing a deal and get Amare Stoudemire also.

Kendall Gill just spoke about Grandma Johnsons situation after a back surgery. So very risky. Once you have trouble with your back it will hunt throughout your career.

We are the worst market. No, nobody will come unless we overpay.
