here's the deal though, if EVERYBODY picked steal because it was the smart thing to do, no one would win anything except the gameshow operators who don't have to give away prize money. In that sense, would I rather have some person get the money or would I rather have the show keep all the money? Go for split, at least in split, you guarantee that SOMEONE wins the money!
I saw these on reddit yesterday. The big guy in the second video is a genius. Perfect manipulation to get a split. I suppose he's banking on the other guy not being totally vindictive and going steal just to screw him.
I'm amazed, and kind of saddened how many people think steal is the unquestionable way to go. This game show is giving both people money, if everybody is as greedy as you guys nobody would ever win anything. Why wouldn't you pick steal, because if your opponent also steals you get nothing.
This isn't rally prisoners dilemma. If both guys were let off by keeping quiet then it would be the same. In prisoners dilemma there is no logical reason to keep quiet, if you keep quiet you are guaranteed jail time, maybe a lot of it. If you rat, you are guaranteed at worst only small jail time, maybe none at all. In this game if both guys rat they are completely screwed, so cooperating makes sense.
Except it's been proven in prisoners dilemma tha the best strategy is to keep quiet over the long run.
i would go with steal. Either i get the money or we both go home empty handed. As long as the other person doesn't screw me over and if that person happen to pick split. I would split with them afterward if i take home all the cash. No way i'm going to trust a strangers words like that selfish chick on first video
