This board went ****ing nuts when we traded "Mr 4th Quarter" Landry for Kevin Martin. It goes ****ing nuts when Morey drafts Budinger or Parsons over Tall Stiff that's still in the second round every year. Heck, it went nuts when we pulled off the McGrady deal.

No, seriously, why does the fact that the board went nuts over that trade possess any relevance whatsoever?

The rockets have been in the league for 45 years. That's nearly 30 years more than the grizzlies.

It took yall 27 seasons to win the championship and 1 MJ retiring. gtfo

Oh, MJ was still retired that year? May want to double-check that.

Back on topic... Rudy Gay is a nice player. Overpaid, but a nice player.

The rockets last made noise in the playoffs almost 15 years ago. Its so sad I still remember EJ for the 3 and then the next day clyde chucking a shot for no reason and Stockton ending our run. I could not sleep that whole night.

So beating the Pacers and taking the Lakers to 7 without Yao isn't noise?

let me go check what memphis has to show for this supposedly fantastic deal for the better player. oh, 1 second round playoff appearance. with a bunch of other missed playoff seasons. and that's without all their franchise players being injured into oblivion.

but it gets better, the second round playoff appearance only occured right after the battier/gay trade was outright reversed (in some sort of sports lab experiment type setup) with rudy gay being injured for the rest of the season right as memphis traded thabeet (i.e. nothing) for shane battier, at which point memphis went on a run and won their first playoff game and series ever. i would think that's what has to sting for the trade opponents. somehow i don't think rudy gay's 0 career playoff games are why the rockets missed out on a championship after the trade.

something tells me if memphis had tmac and yao right now and the rockets had zach randolph and marc gasol, the presence of rudy gay on the grizzlies probably wouldn't be enough to maintain the current status quo. but that's just a guess.

Who cares? It was a trade made years ago. If Gay leads Memphis to a title as THE featured player, then it's worth discussing. As of now, who cares?

only a rockets fan would think that battier was the reason the grizzlies went on a playoff run.

Last year the refrain was the zach was the reason the grizzlies were a playoff team. This year, the grizzlies have been without zach for much of the season and the grizzlies responded with a better record than last year, going on a 7 game winning streak for the first time since the 50 win season.

Believe me, anybody that thinks this is due to gasol just isn't watching the games, because despite gasol's all star appearance, he isn't playing at the same level defensively as he had last year.

Offensively, he's been stellar at the point-center position.

Look I want to be a Grizzlies fan here because I like them but the way you keep belittling the Rockets, you make it hard for me to show it. I just don't understand your presence here.

What is trolling…but we don’t have to create fiction to make it seem like the Grizzlies are better without Rudy Gay. The Grizzlies won 12 of their last 15 before Gay got hurt last season, so they had already gone on the roll which led to their Cinderella Story last year. Getting Battier at the trade deadline certainly helped their bench after the loss of Gay, but let’s not pretend like it was Battier replacing Gay that created some dramatic turnaround.

This year, Randolph went down and a lot of us Rockets fans speculated that we had a good chance of getting into the playoffs over Memphis now…you know, since Randolph is their best player and Rudy Gay is nothing special. But here we are and Memphis is in the 5th seed right now with Gay as their leading scorer.

The bottom line is, Morey could have a better team right now if we had Gay, OR he could have used Gay as an asset to get his 2011 draft target, Jonas Valanciunas, since Cleveland offered their #4 pick for Gay. Valanciunas is looking like a great prospect and scouts are saying he’d easily be the #2 pick in this year's draft…so as usual Morey had a great eye for talent, but we didn’t have anything to get it done.

Anyway, missing out on Rudy Gay isn’t quite the colossal franchise killer ‘what’ is making it out to be, but we did lose that trade and are in worse shape now because of it.

sorry. actually, a think a lot of posters on this board watch the grizzlies and like them secretly. They sure do like our players (gasol, mayo, randolph) and wished that they could have signed them.

they just don't like me because I post about the grizzlies.

If I were a rockets fan, I'd be saying the same things. I seriously don't understand why the rockets choose this route every year. Plus, the kawhi leonard mis pick, it just clueless to me what the rockets are doing.

you guys have been really lucky that you guys won the draft for yao, the grizzlies have never had that kind of lucky in the draft.

you heard it hear first, if the rockets take jeremy lamb in the draft, I will be a fan of this team. I LOVE this kid's game. But knowing the rockets yall are going to take a guy like perry jones or tyler zeller.

Lamb is a superstar in the making and if yall get a chance at him and take Damien Laillard, im going to smdh.

I thought you used to be a fan of the team. What happened? And about Jeremy lamb, thank you!!! I freakin love this guy as well. I was thinking the exact same thing. If the rockets have a chance to get lamb, I will go nuts. I love that guy, he's gonna be just as good as beal, who is a more coveted player. We really have a chance to get a steal. Lol, I swear to god if Morey has a chance to draft this gem and gets a guy like zeller or sullinger, i'm gonna go crazy. Lol

I really think lamb is gonna be a kevin Durant type scorer. He's gonna be the Durant of shooting guards
