Don't we have a Mavs 1st round pick for this year that's Top 20-Protected? They're currently 11th in the league. Hopefully the Magic lose some more games and the Mavs win some and then we'll get their pick this year as well. 3 1st Rounders would almost guarantee that we'll be able to move up in the Draft, at the least, with just trading picks.
yah I was just getting depressed thinking about that team adding two more potential studs to that already young up and coming team. So that cheered me up lol
The blazers are paying LMA a lot, and they have Batum who's grow out of his rookie and contract and looking to get paid. They know they're gonna have a fight on their hands to get Dragic, its not like they're gonna throw so much money on them we can't match it, Dragic gets 10M max and I'm pretty sure the Rox can match that without breaking a sweat. Trading for Lowry's pretty much a more attractive option, they get a similar pg tied to making 6M the next couple of years. Sure they might think he's not worth a top 6 pick by himself, but what if we package him with PP, or maybe the Knicks pick? There are a lot of scenarios that can have both teams coming out of it much better.
Picks in the 20s are pretty marginal in value as far as moving up. I think the highest we'd be able to climb with just the three picks is maybe 7 or 8 depending on who gets those slots. Not many teams want or have room to sign 3 first round picks either. It might actually be better trade value if we don't get Dallas' pick this year so we can package it as a future pick instead of trying to find a team that wants that many rookies coming in this year. Hopefully Sacto or Portland really likes Kyle and we can package up if they get in the 4-6 range. I think Dragic would almost assuredly come back if he knew he had the starting job.
Does Lamb count as a safe, NBA ready pick or a pick based on potential? He's definitely got NBA athleticism and range, but can't attack much off the bounce. I don't want to use our lotto pick on someone who can't develop.
Lamb is not NBA ready, but he is way undervalued based on his potential. He's probably be a top 5 pick in any other draft. He has great defensive potential, which I compare to Ronnie Brewer or Cory Brewer. On offensive, his mid range game is lethal and he can attack the basket as well. I do not get why he is ranked so low by Chad Ford or Draft Express. However, he's currenly #7 on nbadraft. We need to get Beal or Lamb.
1. ESPN's league records is stupid because it automatically sorts by position in your own conference instead of by percentage points. Rockets currently hold the #13, not the #12 pick. Bucks have 33 losses, and the Rockets have 32 wins. To get the #12 pick, the Rockets would have to lose out and Bucks would have to win out. If they tied, the pick is determined by a coin flip, not head-to-head tiebreakers. 2. Dallas' pick will not come to the Rockets this year. They need to be the #21 pick to do so. They are 3 losses behind Hawks and Grizzlies with 3 games to play. Even if they were to tie them in record, the pick is determined by coin flip, not tie breakers.
Portland isn't going to relinquish the 6th pick (assuming they have it) in exchange for a good point guard like Lowry. Especially not after the health circumstances surrounding Lowry this year. he hasn't even demonstrated that he's the same caliber player as he was earlier in the year and now he may not have the opportunity to before next year. Why on earth would anyone imagine that Portland's aspirations are any different than the Rockets? They want to land another franchise caliber rookie to go along with Aldridge and Battum. if anything they would want to use the 6th pick along with some of their own assets to move up into the top three picks.
Thanks for clearing the whole 12-13th pick thing! All I hope for is no more PFs with Motiejunas coming in and two still under contract. Not impressed with Sullinger all that much. Most needed is SG & C and maybe a SF but that would depend on if Morris has a future as a SF here.
The Blazers are on record saying they don't want a rebuild, they want to jump right back into the playoffs next year. Not too many rookies would help that cause. I'm sure they'd love to draft a great young player and sign a point guard with their cap space. Maybe their own pick would be in play, although I think Kyle is worth a top 10 (6-10) pick; the Blazers pick is, what?, pretty close? Also, "[Kyle] hasn't even demonstrated" etc etc is unfair. The guy came back after losing damn near 20 pounds. I'm sure teams would look closely at his bill of health and also remember what a healthy Lowry brings.
What if we could send a package of Martin + our picks to the Wolves for the Utah Pick? Adelman needs his apprentice Kmart, they don't need another rookie that does not know the RA system.
Utah's pick could be #15/16/17. It won't fall past #13, and that's IF they lose 2 or all of their last 3 games. We'll likely draft at #13/14 and #16/17. Teams won't give much for Kevin Martin right now. They're prob'ly hoping we amnesty the mug, which, in all honesty, isn't a horrific idea (Martin-getting-healthy-and-signing-with-Minnesota-and-further-pushing-us-from-ever-making-the-playoffs-next-season notwithstanding).
I think the pick Wolves has is lottery protected, therefore they will not receive it this year if I am not wrong.
Yeah, that makes sense. But why we send our pick and Martin to MIN for a lower pick? that's the part I don't understand about that guy's idea.
I dont suppose anyone can let us know what this says? Lottery impact of tankapalooza Chad Ford http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/blog...aft-looking-lottery-consequences-tankapalooza
Define "rebuild" then. I'd say dumping your vets and your head coach with a few weeks left in the regular season for future considerations constitutes a rebuild. Maybe not of the "scorched earth" variety but a rebuild nonetheless. They are thinking like the Rockets. A relatively deep draft with a single digit draft pick is something they hold onto or try to improve upon unless they come across a screaming deal which Kyle Lowry would not represent for them.
