[qutoe]if you are a bandwagon fan then just admit it. [/quote] not me but I dont blame non hardcore fans for not coming when the product fing sucks.... sports for the most part is what have you done for me lately type of deall..start losing and being ****ty people will not come... surely you understand this...???
There are just a handful of pro sports franchises that sell out tickets no matter what...they're typically either: 1. in a city where that pro sports franchise is the only pro sports franchise in town (Blazers, Spurs, Jazz) or 2. in a city where the franchise's roots go back over 100 years (Cubs -- though even Cub fans have cooled down quite a bit recently) Given the price of tickets now to pro sporting events (particuarly NBA, NHL and NFL), you simply can not expect people to come out of pocket to see a product that they don't believe in....or that they don't find entertaining.
I wish I lived in Dallas so I can watch J. Terry every night. Cuban is an awesome owner who gets really hyped during games; fanastic guy. Either there or Utah, best fans in the world! It's just too bad Stockton and Malone (the greatest basketball duo EVER!) aren't playing anymore
This is actually the point i was trying to make, i was at the Rockets game vs Jazz the other day, by looking at those non-caring fans, in a playoff fighting game against a team we supposedly hate, it was just fking frustrating. I mean seriously, I saw empty seats, I saw ppl fall in sleep on their seats, there were so many ppl in the toyota center bar, why buy a ticket so u can chill in the bar instead of actually going the arena and cheer for ur team? and Yes, this bleachreport article is ****ty, i jumped gun on linking it. sorry for wasting everyone's time.
Great and obvious observation. What's next? People posting articles about how the Red Sox won't win a world series because of Babe Ruth?
I do not equate having bad teams to having a bad fanbase. To me thats the fault of the organizations and not the people who attend their inferior product. If anything that the Texans are still a success, that the Astros still had attendence, and that the Rockets will get support after only having delivered its fans a total of 2 Championships with a 100 years speaks volumes with how loyal Houstonians could actually be. The bad place to have winning franchises argument should be in this discussion. Bad fans? Thats another topic completely unrelated to how bad these teams have been. In other words stop blaming the fans for the **** you are putting out there.
Its not just championships. How many Super Bowls have a Houston team even been too? How many World Series appearances let alone winning it? Heck how many times has any NFL team ever made it to AFC Championship game in Houston? When you win as much as any of these other supposed good teams with their supposed good fans? Then you can complain about the Houston fans.
While Houston isn't a great sports city, the list is a joke. Atlanta is generally near the bottom of these lists, but in this guy's top 10. Hawks tickets are practically given away because the arena is usually only 1/3 full. The Falcons have no real following. In recent years it has gotten better, but it wasn't that long ago you could buy a ticket and sit wherever you wanted. I've been to a few Braves playoff games in which the stadium is less than 75% full. It is a terrible sports city considering how good their teams are.
the media is freaking pathetic. when i wanted to listen to rockets talk, nothing. Now with their collapse, the mother lovers won't shut the hell up. Unless the entire texans roster gets hit by a deadly virus, houston is going to be buzzing with the emergence of the texans. And the rockets will eventually get out of post yaocalypse.
Jst the fact that you are going by a bleacher report article...you are not from around here I guess, oh well.
and you blame this on the fans and not on the franchise that's one exactly one playoff series in 15 seasons? really?
The Texans and Atros haven't had problems with the fanbase. Astros attendance (average of 10th place from 00-09, even respectable last 2 years despite the on field train wreck) 11 19th 10 16th 09 13th 08 12th 07 10th 06 8th 05 10th 04 7th 03 11th 02 14th 01 9th 00 8th The Texans have basically sold out every game, despite not making the playoffs until last year. The rockets have a lousy product and haven't been a great team in 15 years, the one great team we did have lost it's best player for the entire next year, so we couldn't build on it. With a few exceptions, most fanbases are bandwagon. Win or give the impression of future winning and you get fans, lose and you don't. Dallas and San Antonio have been consistently great, and have had 1st ballot HOF's. They didn't fill the building before Robinson and Nowitzki got to town.
lol he sounds informed.. sit outside for 4 hours.. retractable roof.. texans cant draw crowds?? lololololololol the texans have sold out every game since their inception... NEXT...
