This season wasn't bad. It's just the last 5 games that were horrible.
Win 2 of those and we are all pumped up about the playoffs.

There have been so many bad ones that it is hard to decide.

The only thing that will save this season is if the Rox land in the top 3 of the lottery. But more than likely, the Rox will end up with the 13th or 14th pick. And for the 3rd year in a row of no playoffs, thats disappointing.

It hurt more when Yao will go down year after year and when Tracey was laying on the floor in Toyota Center holding his lower back. That hurt more, this is just..... Shoulder Shrugg. Wish we never traded for Battier in that one draft. We would of had our SF.... Thank you Stacey McLady

Still better than this season. That year, you know we were gonna get better next year through the lottery.

There is nothing salvageable this year. This is practically the worst case scenario.

Except we traded our pick because Van Gundy liked Battier. People were pissed about that a lot more than they were about this.

    No way.

The defeat to the sonics in 93 prior to the championship runs.
    That motherfarking John Stockton shot.
    The Dallas implosion.

Those seasons were so much more painful.

We were all blessed to have seen the rise of the Stromile that year. It was like witnessing Jean Grey turn into the Phoenix.

The 93 season was awesome! We were clearly a team on the precipice of tearing it up...we were on the way up with at least the 2nd best player in the game on our roster. I can't imagine thinking that season was worse than this one. As soon as the Sonics game 7 was over, I was disappointed...but I knew we'd be back next year.

Even the Dallas implosion...we had the hope that Yao/Tracy together would mean something.

And the Stockton shot was in the WCF. This current squad can't even make the playoffs and the organization seems to have little to no direction aside from continuing to shuffle a deck with no face cards.

Those moments were painful, sure...but the city was engaged with those squads. The third year of finishing with the 14th pick and out of the playoffs in a row is a really, really bad spot for this organization.

    Worst... in what way?

    Heartbreaking? No.

    Underachieving? No.

Frustrating. Yes. It has been building since Game 7 versus the Lakers. I've never been more aggravated at this team or the outcome of a season than this.

One of the biggest REGULAR SEASON gaps between HOPEFUL to LETDOWN in a while, probably in franchise history

'06 was overall worse I think.

Injuries to McGrady & Yao, team mega sucking
McGrady starting to show he's "that guy" with the drama diva hypochondriac tendencies
    Miracle Waco doctor
Watching the Rafer Alston and Stromile Swift show
Watching David Wesley and Jon Barry degrade down into nothing
Wondering if the "Magic Lamp" could be a prospect.
JVG and Juwan Howard ANTI-tanking winning meaningless games messing up Rockets draft prospects

Van Gundy ball with NO offense was very painful to watch.

THIS WAS ONE OF THE GREATEST!!

    - AT LEAST WE HAD A SEASON
    - BECAUSE IT WAS SHORT, WE DONT HAVE TO SIT THROUGH MORE OF IT.
    - WE DISCOVERED DRAGIC
    - WE GOT A HALL OF FAME PLAYER - MCHALE
    - WE GAINED RESPECT - AN IDENTITY

    Everyone, quit your whining!

I don't know if you could say it was the worst season, as there have been many where we ended up with a worse record. However, if you look at it from the perspective that many people here were calling for a full-on tank job during a shortened season (i.e. fewer bad games to suffer through) where we do not have any true stars on this team (and we are badly in need of a couple) and with one of the better draft classes in recent years coming up, that had we just played our young guys (such as all the '09'rs, Morris, etc) with more of an emphasis on player development rather than wins, this team could have finished the season with a shot at a top 5 pick (making those losses a little more bearable), but now we sit in the same place as last year with very little hope to land a superstar and seemingly stuck on the mediocrity treadmill for the foreseeable future, then perhaps it could be considered one of the worst seasons.

Don't get me wrong, I was very excited to see the team in 6th place and I was looking forward to the good guys making the playoffs, but the recent losing streak has brought everyone back down to earth to show this team is what a lot of people thought they were, a collection of over-achieving role players who bust their butts every night (well, maybe not every night) but lack the ability to take it to the next level. This team needs a legit star and I think the only way we get one is through the draft, IMHO. I believe that Morey has tried in earnest to get a star through trade and free-agency, but it seems apparent now that it just isn't going to happen as we've been holding our collective breath for the past few years waiting for a blockbuster deal that has never materialized (Stearned or not).

Basically, the way I see it is that we had a chance to potentially land a franchise player in the 2012 draft but instead we're going to end up in the same position as last year - barely missing the playoffs and ending up with another late lottery pick. That's not to say that Morey couldn't swing a deal to move up in the draft, but our history of doing that in the past couple of years hasn't been so good, plus the fact that to trade up into the top 5 can be very costly.

I think I'm just mostly ticked off that we choked away our playoff chances when it mattered the most

I wasn't expecting much going into the season, especially after the Gasol trade fell through. I thought McHale would do a lot of experimenting and be a bit of a puppet to Morey as far as rotations go (play T-will, maybe even Thabeet regular minutes). So I was expecting a developmental season while they could still label it as "competing" since we might have been within arms reach of the 8th seed.

That outlook changed very early on so I just decided to enjoy the ride. Disappointing ending and there is nothing more frustrating than staying exactly the same (signed, '07-'08 8-8 Texans), but I think with a little patience and some luck it will pay off. I think it will take a perfect storm of Morey's assets, favorable contract situations, and a big draft day trade to make it happen...but I think it will happen at some point.
