I got one question. Is it possible for them to get in the playoffs still? Until then I hope they at least fall behind Utah and Phoenix. Higher draft choice.
What for? We have two lottery-esque picks coming. We also have the opportunity to trade for more picks. Coming out like bandits in the draft will make up for everything.
No, thanks. I like watching teams trying their best to win games more than I like watching them take a dive. But, you know, I'm a basketball fan so I'm kind of biased.
Please. Unless we somehow get into the top 6 or so, we aren't coming out like bandits. As solid as some of the players we've drafted have been, nothing is really all that great about leaving a draft with Morris/Patterson/Parsons/Budinger/etc type players. We all need to take off the red-tinted glasses and realize there is nothing exciting about "lottery-esque" picks. It's too bad we are a "playoff-esque" team with a stagnant team direction. I wish we'd just have a firesale and see what kind of full rebuild we could get. Not like our fans show up to the games anyways right now..
Honestly it's not even about tanking. It's mainly about find a core of guys for the future. If we can find it through trades, great. If we have to do through tanking, that's fine too.
What's there to eat crow about? Even if the Rockets set out to tank this year, they still wouldnt have pulled a top 5 pick... look at the standings... So we had a decent year of basketball and now DM has some assets to bundle... I dont see where suffering through a dismal year to move up 5 or 6 spots is all that much better... Can any combination of Scola, KMart, Bud, MMo, Lull rights, our pick, future Dallas pick get us into the top 5?
I think Lowry would have to be in any trade to get us in the top 5. Teams like Sac and Toronto could really use a pg.
I guess Charles isn't a basketball fan like you then. You should have heard what he had to say about Phoenix making the playoffs. Look. Some of us realize that if you don't have a young superstar player that could use the playoff experience then the 8th and 7th spots are utterly useless. The alternative? To move up in the draft to get that player. It sucks i know but until the NBA does something about it then teams will continue to game the system. While we sit around and sign every solid vet like Dalembert and desperately hang onto our role players team slike the Wizards will be pairing Wall and Davis and will be "Teams of the future" While we will be the scrappy Rockets!
I dont think being anti-tanking was ever a big issue around here....the problem was not going anywhere. Fans just wanted a direction picked and to go that way. Its just easier to want to believe in a win now plan when you have some talent and just need to pull off a trade or two. You can't blame fans for wanting a chance to win earlier rather than later. Even those who wanted to tank would rather win ASAP.
What if we were tanking, then we ended up winning... then when we tried to win after that, we ended up tanking... hmm.
Funny how you missed this part^^. By this i mean Lowry could be used in a trade to move up in the lottery. As was rumored some time ago, Portland was looking for a point and were willing to dump one of their lottery picks for one.
it isnt so much about tanking, but about dumping some of the players that are keeping this team in that 9th seed year after year..
I'm a pro tanker, but really, there's nothing to celebrate here. So what if we're right about tanking, the fact is the Rockets suck and will continue to suck for the foreseeable future. We should channel that anger towards the owner, not to one another. **** you Le***** Alexandra.
The thing is ..... it's a double edged sword..... the next owner could be worse.... aint nothing going to be worse you might think.. but you never know.... I am all for going a new direction....
