Those are all mle contrats which are very easy to move. Those guys can get moved for nothing if need be. I remember people crying gortat wasn't worth mle money and he got moved. Those are not bad contract because all 3 are under 30
thetatomatis & real_egal That argument just does not make sense to me. Your essentially arguing that Morey should convince his boss that his boss is wrong and then if cannot convince Les, he should go directly against what his boss told him to do. How on earth is that smart? Sure you want to win, but doing that is more than just job suicide, it is career suicide. Because what owner will hire you after you publicly went against your owners instructions for a job that is extremely public in this day in age. Just because Morey is signed to contract does not mean that Les cannot fire him whenever he feels like it.
Bad contract? You mean Rashard Lewis? But the Magic were division champions for a few years, and they went to Conference Finals and even NBA Finals. Bad contract? Why do you care? As if Rockets didn't have enough bad contracts to start with. BTW, if they are winning, I don't care if every single contract is a bad one. Also, at TMac & Yao's prime, they had to start Bowen and Bogans in playoffs. That was your "GOOD CONTRACT".
Doesnt matter to me. Les is gonna see the empty seats for only so long before he has to blame someone. Obviously it wont be himself. Morey needs to Figure it out whatever it was he needs to do and stop being so "held back" or "unlucky". After a while Les with his empty arena is gonna say, "YOU ARE FIRED." "Next GM fill my arena back up"
Those are all terrible contracts. Frye is the only one that is contributing to the team and he isn't doing all that. They are going to pay Childress 6.5, 7.0, 7.1MM over the next three years and he barely even gets on the floor. They are also paying Warrick 4.5MM a year for the next two years and all he does is sit on the bench. Paying guys MLE money to just sit on the bench is bad GMing. Would you take any of those three on the Rockets at their current salary?
On another note. Maybe a slightly mediocre GM wont be such a bad thing if they decide to change those jerseys a little too to turn the image into a different direction. Maybe this slightly mediocre GM will get luckier and build a horribly managed championship contender.
I never said he should just do whatever he feels like. Actually, I have a strong feeling, that he's actually on the same wave-length of Les. Did it ever occur to you, that Morey was out there looking for star players? When it comes to trades, his first priority is to get his money worth. In today's market, not just NBA, every single market, people have to overpay for quality. Unless you are Lakers, players might want to play for you for less money, because the market, media attention, and success can compensate you in other ways. Market Price is always the right price.
Nope I don't mean Rashard Lewis. I am talking about the Hedo, Big Baby, JRich etc. deals. If Otis Smith hadn't panicked and made those horrible trades last year the Magic would be in much better shape.
It was a huge mistake NOT to give Hedo the "bad contract" he wanted to start with. Of course DH is their franchise player, but Hedo was their clutch player and soul. They went to the Finals because of him.
I said no but what i really want is for Morey to take a break. Bring in some1 Jordan would approve of and watch to team suck for a year or two. When they finally blow it up, bring him back to rebuild this team.
I can understand that argument if Morey can't talk Les out of riding the treadmill next season. It is much easier to convince a boss that they are wrong when you do what they say and then it blows up. If Morey can't convince Les this offseason that they should change directions then I agree he should go. I do however think he has done a good enough job that he deserves to have at least one more offseason to put something together.
Hedo did nothing in Toronto and has done nothing since returning to Orlando to support that argument.
You act like warrick and childress can't play or something. A bad contract to me is a guy who can't play and is making a boatload of nba money. They could easily trade warrick because when he plays,he's pretty solid. Childress since coming back from europe hasn't ben the same, but again, easy to trade contract. The right team would take frye because he is a 7ft er who can shoot.
They don't play for the Suns this year. If they were so easy to move why wouldn't the Suns move them for players they would actually give minutes to? You seriously think it isn't a problem to have two guys on your team making $11MM dollars and barely getting any minutes?
Tired of people making excuse of why he hasn't done thi or that. I will refer back to 06. He wasn't even the gm then and he showed les why its better to trade for no stats all star vs taking one of the most talented players who just fell into you lap @8. I will also use the rafer alston trade as people making another excuse. Morey trades rafer to open playing time for brooks and get his favs lowry in the middle of a playoff run, but now we're supposed to pretend les is stopping him from doing what he wants? How does a gm have the ear of the owner then but not now?
Not when everyone else is making the same. They could trade both at the end of the season because they're easy to match contracts. A bad contract is a bloated one u can't move which none of the 3 are. Think nba money, not real world money.
Would you want the Rockets to sign those guys for that money this offseason if they were free agents? Do you think the Suns would resign them for that money? Your answer to those questions should tell you rather or not those were good signings.
See thats what I have a problem with. OTHER PEOPLE are trying to convince me Les is holding Morey back and i have to take their WORD FOR IT OVER THE INTERNET. Which I have no problem doing. It just takes me believing a theory and it setting in. Right now it hasnt settled in that Les is influencing Moreys every move. I need more evidence.
