Not sure if this has been covered - just got the blu rays for the first 2 and they both have 2 versions on them. Alien has the original as well as a 2003 director's cut - which is the preferred version? Also, Aliens has the original and then a 1991 special edition. I'd rather start with the consensus best version of each.

This. Scott has said that the original Alien is the better version - the Directors Cut is really the extended edition.

Whatever it was...an alien burst out of it.

So I assume we see that in this new film?

    This.

So it's almost confirm that Prometheus is 119mins long. I'm pretty disappointed. I know Ridley is lying saying this is the director's cut but deep down it's being trim to meet both FOX and the f'ing MPAA approval for PG-13 crap.

He's the "Space Jockey" (named by the crew of the film). He's an HR Giger design. The supposed dead pilot of the ship that was killed long ago. Its been long enough to where he is mummified. If you google "space jockey" apparently there is Aliens comic story arcs that go into the species that the dude was.

Apparently the "alien" mythology is a lot bigger than I ever realized from just watching the films.

Terrific casting to match Hauer - and I agree. I don't think a real Weyland Ind ad would want to be so foreboding/creepy, though :) Love the two skulls behind him.

Damn you FOX for making me this excited about a movie so far from release

Fassbender is awesome and great viral! Very Hal like tone but this time David playing Hal.

Directed by Johnny Hardstaff. The guy have some pretty cool showreel.

    what's "almost confirm" mean?
good to see it's at least two hours though.

yeah, i guess they can screw up the theatrical release as much as they want... just as long as we get our proper cut afterwards.

It's still 1 1/2 month away so I'm still hoping that something might get change. Me I preferred a longer cut.

They have been showing "Alien" a lot lately on cable and here is what I don't get. What was Ash looking at on the video screen when Ripley disturbed him asking "what is that?"? It sure looked like the alien embryo growing inside of Kane. Ash clearly was covering it up not letting Ripley know what he was examining (even turning off the video display of it) saying "I don't know yet" when he clearly had an idea. At this point, Ash had his orders to bring back a life form priority one with all other priorities rescinded. The exact order was "Insure Return of Organism For Analysis. All Other Considerations Secondary. Crew Expendable."

Why wouldn't Ash, as science officer, want to freeze Kane ASAP as he clearly knew something was growing inside Kane? Yet, Ash waits to see what happens with Kane waking up and alien bursting out. My problem with this is Ash clearly had to know the best way to get the life form back to the Company was to freeze Kane and then let them handle it...not see what happens and diminishing the chances greatly of ever getting the life form back. Granted, Ash didn't know exactly how it would play out. But, still, why wouldn't he insist on freezing Kane to get him back even with the face hugger still attached?

It just doesn't make sense cause if the crew is wiped out...the chances that Ash survives and returns an alien to the Company is greatly diminished as well. Ash knew Kane was a host. He just didn't know how long the gestation period was. I just think Ash would have insisted they freeze Kane straight away and not play around with trying to remove the face hugger at all. Granted, the movie would have been completely different then as the setting would change for it to play out. The whole way the crew handled Kane...especially after the face hugger detached itself...makes no sense. They acted like it didn't even happen afterwards and the point of some alien creature doing what it did to Kane was no reason at all.

I guess we are supposed to buy that Ash was just malfunctioning and maybe even had malice for the crew wanting them dead. He clearly had a problem with Ripley throughout and tried to kill her later. Ash apparently wanted to see how it would play out imo...even if it wasn't the most direct way to satisfy completing his orders.

In summary, Ash is bad. Bishop is bad. David8 will be bad. Their bad I tell ya. Bad! David8 is going to **** up Prometheus just like Ash ****ed up Alien and Bishop ****ed up Aliens. Robots are bad. BAD! mmmkay
