Why do people act like Morey didn't make a major trade last preseason?

The Gasol trade is what he is talking about smart ass. We got Sterned from having a front court of Nene and Gasol. Not Morey's fault is his point. I believe Morey has done the best he could to recover from the Sterning he took. (you can replace the word stern with a 4 letter adj. beginning with F). I understand what he is saying. Would I like to have seen more....yes but it takes two to tango. Jedi mind tricks don't really work on other GM's nor do the 2k12 GM's flooding the board with fantasy deals that work and they get pissed at Morey because it worked for them on the trade machine and Morey is an idiot because he did not pull it off. Not saying I like our position, but, I think he did what he could with the hand he was dealt. Hard to go all in with a pair of 2's!!

Nene sucks. He is a bad contract. They traded him for javeel mcgee. Think about that. I think we would have been better off trying to be terrible. Gasol is a good 2nd tier player, but if he is you best player then you are like what we are now a 7th or 8th seed.

I can't believe there are people who think Nene and Gasol would have made us contenders.

He is so much worse than Dalembert:rolleyes:. Bad contract, he was a free agent and Morey had already negotiated a deal

Les-More could have traded Martin and Scola for future picks and cut the veterans they got in return. That would have:

    1. Kept Lin on the roster.
    2. Free up minutes for the youngsters to develop.
    3. Guaranteed the Rockets lose enough games to have a least a decent chance of landing a top five pick.

Not contenders but we'd be significantly better with an upgrade from Scola to Gasol. He'd also be our most valuable "asset" in trading for a superstar or moving up into the lottery.

You think that team would be worse than this one?

1st gasol will be over the hill soon. 2nd, nowadays, superstars dictate the destination not the team. if they don't want to come to houston, you won't get them no matter how many "assets" you have.

I think that would have been great to build around going forward. Do you agree with that?

The thing about that is we don't know what that would have been like having those two on the court together here. I know we can all sit back and place judgement on them as individual players on their current teams, but we can't say what they would have been like here with other players. Both players can score the ball. They may not be beasts, but they would be something other teams have to plan for a match up with. And who knows what other moves might have been made after that? I'm just sayin...

Nene and Gasol, please, killing the deal was the best thing Stern ever did. That p***y birdface spaniard who didn't want to come here can stay in LA with his whiny expressions. I was never sold on Nene and would take Dalembert as a free agent 9 times out of 10. Can you imagine having those two bad contracts right now??

You realise with these signed, there's not much flexibility going forward, we would've had Hayes 6'6 as a back-up who is not doing well in Sacramento and we would've had no proper back-up for Lee other than Twill? And Lin would've been Lowry's back-up and no way would he have blossomed here. The free reign offense was great for him.

All in all, I'm glad none of this happened. Morey feeding us garbage for 3 years only to get us Pau freaking Gasol when he's over the hill and Nene?? Makes you wonder what he cooks up in the off-season, don't be suprised if he still goes after Gasol and we end up with an even more pussified team than we have now.

No, I don't. I would agree if both players were 6 years younger.

Let's not forget that if Pau and Nene came to Houston, Chuck would still be on this roster - the heart n soul of this team for the past few years.

    Potentially could've had:
Pau, Nene, Parsons, Lee, Lowry (Starting 5)
Hayes, Patterson, Budinger, Morris, Lin, and fillers (off the bench)

That's still not a contending roster, but we're top 5 in the west for sure.

(Note: I haven't included Camby or Dally cuz we dont know if they would be on this team had the original trade had gone through)

No do not want Gasol.. he is over 30 and not a superstar anyways.. he is third fiddle on the lakers.. Nene is better than Dally but those 2 would not make us a CONTENDER.. yes maybe better than this current team, but what does that mean? we would be maybe a 6/5 seed and lose in the second round?? and then next year we would have the same old front court and possibly injured(NeNe is injured always)..

face it rockets fans, we will always be .500 franchise as long as we stay the course of "morey ball"..

what an embarrassment of a ending to a season.. 4 game road win streak, in striking distance of the 5 seed with 3 of the next 4 games AT HOME and freaking choke and now 5 games later sit in the 9 hole… ridiculous..

The GM assembles our squad, yes he doesn't coach them, yes he doesn't pay them, but he does assemble the roster for the coach and the owner.. at some freaking point, after 4 straight years of .500, mediocre, with the #14 pick in the 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 NBA draft the Houston Rockets select ??, Daryl Morey might get a little blame from you Morey does no wrong homers…

I agree he was handicapped by Yao and Tmac but i do not agree with the Gasol trade as a crutch of you guys to use.. that trade would not have taken us to the promise land or set us up with any kind of big future.. unless u think middle of the pack in the west is a big future then ok..

Even that would have tied the best we have done (just once) in the last 15 years.
