Calipari just stated PP will be in the L for 15 years. FACTS. The jumpshot will come back with his legs. A full offseason.

Somethings changed. Maybe the NBA has started to scout him better? Its possible he can be adjusted to in the NBA.

Good post OP. I think he lost his possible superstar hope, but if can get back his athleticism and his jumper than he is a serviceable backup to Dmo next year. I am good with that. Offseason is huge for him

I notice Patpat just tries to do the same two or three moves in the post all the times. There's a 'back in, back in, pump fake left, then right, if defender doesn't bite (and they never do), shoot contested jump shot'

It really looks like McHale is trying to teach Patterson his own moves, but I'm not sure if Patpat really has the body (those ridiculously long arms for one) to do what McHale did.

One thing about Patterson, we all know what he is capable of from what saw last season and in flashes this season. He will be alright.

He needs to start taking guys off the dribble ala Antawn Jamison.

He also needs to add the three pointer to his game.

The slack he gets amazes me.

His PnR defense has been just as bad as Scolas, he failed to cut off so many rollers in the Dallas games i was literally yelling at my TV, so many layups. And thats supposed to be his best skill.

    Over his last 22 games

    7.8 PPG
    4.0 RPG
    40% FG
    23.2 MPG

    Per 36
    12.0 PPG
    6.3 RPG
    40% FG
    36.0 MPG

His rebounding this year has been catastrophic. 6.7 per 36 for a whole freaking season. Hell Bud averages 6.2 per 36.

He has no offensive skills to speak of, can't finish, and his jumper has even become inconsistent. Grossly overrated defensively.

His adjusted plus minus of -10.1 is by far the worst on the team, nobody else is over -3.2.

His 2 year of -6.9 is also last, comfortably ahead of Martins - 4.2.

Whether it's the injury or not being good enough, he shouldn't have been playing, he has been absolutely killing this team. Much less playing in crunch time.

Scolas, who has also been playing poorly, has looked like a HOF compared to Pat.

Oy... just what we need, our PF moving even further away from the basket.

Carl Landry at least gave use energy through hustle when his jump shot was not falling.

Also he was a beast on offensive side of the ball in 4th quarter. I wish he was still Rocket.

Different offense has played a major part in a lot of Rox declining this year.

I'v been fairly surprised at how weak he's been this season. Last year his reputation was strong, plays like a man, solid rebounder and good energy. This year he's been absent of nearly all of those things he was known for.

i don't believe in excuses either, but considering that he was the most efficient rookie per minute played last year, I don't think you can make sweeping declarations that he's a bust because of his current struggles. I must admit, i'm perplexed how he could actually take a step backwards in his second year, but i'm with those who say that we need to give him a chance to work on his game in the offseason, and then pass judgement next year. One thing is for sure, his confidence has dropped through the floor, and if you're struggling like he is, that surely makes things worse. Very disappointing though.

    That's not it all.

Pat was shooting around 56% FG for a month between Jan and Feb. Those shots were all elbow and baseline jumpers.

Pat's offense fell off when they had him post up and play with his back to the basket. This is the cost of developing a young player. It's something they needed to see and could still pay off in future seasons.

The only worries are his rebounds/boxing out which has dropped off for a long while now and more lately his inconsistent defense. I think it's mostly because of the compressed schedule where he's played more mins and more games than in his rookie year.

The Rockets have also been slow all season to adjust whenever they had to re-shuffle their lineup.

I think leebigez had it right saying Patterson's a "back seat" kind of player.

Many teams said Patterson was a great interview before the draft. It must not be that difficult to give good generic comments, speaking with an articulate serious tone to look the "mature" and "coachable" role.

Or maybe it shows there's just a lot of buttheads in the league that are easy to beat in that

All in all you'd want it where just one or 2 stats are down but everything is else about the same. But ALL of Patterson's numbers are DOWN, ALL the way across the line. And his usage is UP. Thats means serious sucking and big time regression.

You'd have to think its due to something serious like injury, where if you fix the ONE thing it will fix EVERYTHING else. Otherwise, it means its a "broken" player... But I don't Patterson is a "Vin Baker" type like that.
