I've been spamming out my resume to any position I find remotely similar to my education. Man applying for "grown up" jobs is way different then working in restaurants. Anyways what are ya'lls stories. About how many positions did you apply for, how long did it take you to finally get hired. I'm praying I never have to ask somebody if they would like some more chips again!! haha.
BIG BOY work force? Of course! We work hard... we play hard... Spoiler Spoiler Not that there's anything wrong with that.
Thank you for naming my new band..."Big Boy Work Force". We are a Rush tribute band. Need bassist and drummer in Fort Worth area. lolz
What's your skillset and what type of jobs are you applying for? Unfortunately, it's a rough market for anyone starting out in their career right now. If you have experience and are in the right market, jobs are coming along now. Definitely for IT.
Think you'll be fine as long as you have some overalls.... <a target='_blank' title='ImageShack - Image And Video Hosting' href='http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/404/bobsbigboy1004.jpg/'><img src='http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/198/bobsbigboy1004.jpg' border='0'/></a>
Far from IT haha. I graduate 5/12 with a Political Science Degree Spanish minor. Outside of my restaurant experience I have interned at a law firm and worked as a supplemental instructor in the TX State history department. I've been applying for mainly clerical jobs I feel I'm overqualified for in either local government positions around Galveston County, or legal assistant jobs anywhere in the Houston area. I plan on getting my M.P.A through night/weekend classes after I take at least a semester off. Anyways I'm not really worried yet, just getting antsy since this is my transition into the white collar workforce.
First thing you should know is that if a superior asks you to pose for provocative photos for "online research", you should say no right away...or ask for a raise, depending on your combination of intelligence and desperation
You should also be looking for "contract analyst" or "contract administrator" jobs in energy, banking and any other heavily regulated industries. If you want to work in government it seems like you should be willing to cast that net as wide as possible: search for any job in the county, city or state; and then specifically for your desired job title but in any municipality in the country. Also, take the foreign service exam and seriously consider law school.
