After the year we had, I cannot believe how well we've done in recruiting to restock this team with some scorers and size. http://rivals.yahoo.com/tamu/basketball/recruiting/commitments/2012/tamu-84 Two 4 stars, a First Team JUCO all-american, a 3 star with a very impressive offer list, and today we beat out NC State and Oregon for another highly coveted JUCO Power Forward (Andrew Young). We also got a 4 Star transfer Forward from Florida State with 3 years of eligibility left in Antwan Space. Unbelievable work by the coaching staff that got a very late start for this recruiting season.
Thanks for the update. I heard ESPN released a basketball recruiting ranking list recently, have you seen where we're ranked? I could be wrong. Looks like UH has a decent class.
We are not ranked. And our top recruits are as local as possible and were committed long ago. I'm happy that the class is decent, but I'm not impressed.
Ah, I see. Well that sucks. I saw that some local talent went to Baylor and OSU and wondered if BCG would have let that happen (probably) -- but still.
I don't see how you could not be impressed. The Ags had absolutely NOTHING going for this class under Turgeon, and it has been turned around into a class that is bringing in Three 4 Stars, a High 3 Star, a First Team JUCO All-American, and another JUCO big that some good programs also wanted. Reese was absolutely not coming to A&M with Turgeon here, and that is a fact. Turgeon may have pulled in Caruso though. Name one recruiting class in recent memory that is as good as this class. One recruiting site has the Aggies class ranked at #28 (http://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1354596), which does not take into account the 4 Star transfer and the JUCO big man that was picked up today. Sorry, but that is about as good as it has been for the Aggies in recent memory.
2012: Three 4 Stars, One 3 Star, 1 JUCO All America For Comparison of Turgeon's other recruiting classes... 2011: One 4 Star, One 3 Star 2010: One 4 Star (Passed Away), Three 3 Stars 2009: One 4 Star, Three 3 Stars 2008: Two 4 Stars 2007: One 5 Star and Four 3 Stars (DeAndre's class and really this was BCG's leftover class so Turge didn't do crap) I'll take 2012's haul over any of those, and this staff was way late in even entering the race. No matter what you say, A&M is not going to be built on 5 Star one and dones like DeAndre (Who didn't even really help out because he was so immature as a freshman). Turgeon's classes left ALOT to be desired. Give me 2 or 3 classes like the 2012 class, and A&M is going to have a damn competitive team.
I just don't think that Bryan College Station is going to be churning out two 4star players for A&M regularly. I hated Turge's attitude at times, but the man is pulling a top 20 recruiting class at UMD after surpassing 1st yr expectations. I'm just down on my Ags...and I actually have a couple of friends/acquaintances on the team (cell #s and all). I think some of us get too hyped, like I remember reading in this thread that Shabazz was coming to A&M. Look, I'm willing to give it a chance, but last season was horrible. I hope JMR is the real deal, but more importantly that the team looks like they understand basketball.
Dude were stacked! 4* PG J Mychal Reese 4* SG Alex Caruso 3* PGShawn Smith JUCO PG faybion Harris JUCO PF Andrew Young 4* transfer SF/PF From FSU! Beast recruiting ever and they said were not done yet!
Oh sorry. No I meant there is one last player we're trying to get fir the 2012 class, but everyone was keeping it on the dl. I should have worded it better. It's apparently, Tony Trocha.
