we were almost always contenders in last 20+ years so it wasnt always like this. This is the first time we don't have a superstar and we're just an average team, so it's hard to get used to it. We'll be back sooner or later, it just take's patience n time
WAIT. Other than the 90s Rockets with The Dream... when were we contenders?? Please remind me when we contended. Remind me, because I don't know what the heck you're talking about.
in the 80's the rockets lost to larry bird twice in the finals. we were contenders in the 80's and 90's
Hey, we were talking about the last twenty years. Still, by all means enjoy the fact that we haven't been relevant in years.
Alright But coming into the playoffs? The fact that we didn't make it, n injuries killed us is a whole different story.
Back when the playoff t-shirt fad started, i want to say it was the GS-Dall series, but other teams followed it right away......took Houston a long while to get on in on it. Was that Les' decision to make? That was enough for me to dislike him.
The definition of "contender" varies widely with the mood on this forum. To some people it is defined as "teams that make the conference finals at least twice in five years while winning over 60% of their games in the same 5 year span with 2 people subjectively defined as superstars and a supporting cast subjectively deemed as good". We were contenders with TMac and Yao. People were worried to play us in the playoffs if we were healthy. But... we weren't, and/or we choked. Doesn't mean the potential wasn't there. And how can the owner be blamed for that?
yeah.... but not championship contender... that would include.... several trips to the WC finals or finals within a span of 5 or 6 years....
Les, Sell the Team!!! Les's reply: "Are you kidding??! Right when i have suckered the city into thinking we can make the playoffs??!! TeeeeHeeheeehehheheh-heehaw!!!!!"
