If we miss the playoffs and Dallas and NY make the playoffs as the 8th seed (us 9th) what picks would we get this year?
Not if we land in the lottery again. It is lottery protected until 2017 at which point it becomes a 2nd round and cash. Edit: Thanks daywalker02
one second round and cash....in 2017 but I doubt we miss out on the playoffs in 4 consecutive years.... Stranger things have occurred though
I don't like being right, but this was obvious from the very beginning. We'll see if Morey lasts the summer.
No. He's not a Rockets kind of pick. He's long, athletic, and plays good defense. I would love Terrence Jones with the Knicks pick if Henson, & Rivers are off the board.
This should cheer you guys up...this year we might get the 14th AND 15th pick...back to back dleaguers.
He might end up being the scapegoat if the Rockets end up with the 14th pick again, but I doubt it. Next year definitely he will be the scapegoat. Morey is a good GM, and I like the job he's done, but with GM's its all about luck. Not even the best and brightest can make it on smarts alone.
very true...would be cool to have the best and brightest to see what they could do with this team though.
Austin Rivers has a talent that is one of the Rockets glaring weaknesses. He gets in the paint at ease, and has a wicked first step. He's a penetrating guard similar to that of Goran Dragic actually. Maybe more athletic.
it was obvious from the beginning that this would happen whether we made the playoffs or not. we are a 7-10 seed, just like every year. we have the last laugh though: we have the most assets!
John Henson out of the University of North Carolina. -A 6'11 shot blocker w/t a 7'6 wingspan, get him to around to 245 and he'll be a defensive, shot blocking, beast!
the 14h pick again would mean we've wasted the last 3 season when we could've just went full rebuild mode. holding on to a great group of role players while waiting for a star to fall in your lap is not the way to build a winner.
Yea Austin Rivers sounds ok. Damian Lillard is probably gonna be the best player available. Meyers Leonard, Tyler Zeller. If by some chance they can have Jeremy Lamb or Bradley Beal fall to them. Which is unlikely.
2012 Houston Rockets 1st Round Draft Pick - We keep our first rounder for another year. (14th and higher) 2012 New York Knicks 1st Round Draft Pick - If they are knocked out in the first round of the playoffs ... it will be 16th pick (Weakest playoff record, most likely), regardless if they beat the Bulls. If they also missed the playoffs, the pick ends up being 14th and higher, as well. 2012 Dallas Mavericks 1st Round Draft Pick - At the moment, we would not have this pick, unless Dallas finishes with a better record than the 5th place Eastern Conference team and finishes no lower than 6th in Western Conference. If the Mavs surpass the the Grizzlies, then we would capture that pick.
