    Secret Service Scandal: President Obama Calls for 'Thorough, Rigorous' Investigation

    President Obama said today that he expects a "thorough" and "rigorous" investigation of allegations of misconduct involving members of the Secret Service and military assigned to a security detail ahead of his visit to Cartagena, Colombia.

    "If it turns out that some of the allegations that have been made in the press are confirmed, then of course I'll be angry," Obama said during a press conference with Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos following a bi-lateral meeting.

    The comments were the first public statement by the president on the scandal, which has cast a shadow over his trip to the Summit of the Americas.

    Eleven Secret Service agents and five military service members have been accused of cavorting with prostitutes and drinking excessively at the Hotel Caribe in Cartagena.

    Obama said he holds the Secret Service to the same high standards as the rest of his staff, expecting them to conduct themselves with "dignity and probity."

    "We're representing the people of the United States, and when we travel to another country I expect us to observe the highest standards because we're not just representing ourselves," he said.

    It is embarrassing that our president's security detail feel so above the law that they skimp out on paying for their legal escorts. What a bunch of boneheads.

    Yep, what could go wrong with the President's security detail put in a position of possible blackmail by drug lords and other governments?

    No big deal.

    By the way, is this the "extremely pro-Republican military" Biggie mentioned in the other thread?

    The crazy thing is that these guys brought prostitutes into the so called security circle. That's very unsafe. Can't help the president feel all that secure.

    No, you're right. It's totally safe to have prostitutes in the same vicinity where the president will be. Hell anyone should be allowed there. Why have a security circle at all, and if you are going to have one certainly random third world prostitutes would be on the list of those that should have unrestrained access.

    The secret service probably doesn't respect Obama enough to spend their full time protecting him.
