that video totally reminds of "can't hardly wait." Edward Cullen's dad dumps Amanda and every single guy is in line waiting to pounce. Maury needs to meet Dragic at the train station with some 80's music and convince him to stay. can't wait for tomorrow's game. =)
Morey's take (has probably been posted somewhere): Daryl Morey Monday via Twitter Congrats 2 @Goran_Dragic-WConf plyr of week! Congrats 2 @Klow7 on recovery&closing out W@SAC.Kyle+Goran=2 gr8 tastes that taste gr8 together
I say we re-sign Dragic at what ever it takes and offer Lowry for one of the Jailblazers lottery picks.
QFT. The reason why Dragic scores 20 + points. Is because hes a boss and knows how to finish. The reason why he gets almost 10 assist in the game, Lowry/Parsons/Lee/Scola/Dbear/Bud/Camby know how to finish when they get a pass. Team chemistry is legit right now and looking at interviews of Landry and Hayes, they look like they are not having fun. would you like to have 10 million dollars and have fun or have 20 mill and hating life.
Not saying he would completely buy it, but the Rockets could always spin that as they were giving him a deserving opportunity to start somewhere else. With the way things have played out, we might be able to give him that opportunity here. Who knows how this playoff push goes with Lowry coming off the bench? Maybe we play well and Lowry grows into owning that super 6th man role and decides he would have no problem letting Goran start as long as he still gets his minutes. I really think Lowry is a guy who puts winning first and if it works with him coming off the bench I can see him accepting that role. Again we just don't know how the rest of the season is going to play out.
An extremely good question! 10 mil covers all my needs for the rest of my life. I'd choose the fun option there.
We should resign Dragic and Lee, try to sign Asik, then trade Lowry and New York's pick to some team in the top 7 in the draft who needs a pg (toronto, portland, new orleans)
Yeah too bad he can't figure out that by playing them together they are both less effective overall. Yippee DD
I hope Dragic means it. Love to see him stay here BUT he will be getting a BIG pay check no matter where he goes. Seems to me its up to the Rox if they want to match a big offer or not.
Small sample size but I agree. I like Dragic with the ball in his hands for the majority of the possession. Looks more natural at point. I love Lowry but dragic's ability to finish and create for himself make him the keeper.
I'll agree with you that Dragic's emergence doesn't blend well with Lowry's return. They cancel each other out a bit, and team chemistry has suffered. Don't know about the Morey part. He has to throw that out there until the offseason arrives. Lowry doesn't need the distraction of what must have obviously occurred to him. If Morey screws this up and loses Dragic in the offseason, then I'd be happy to hold Morey down while you flog him with your green rep bars.
LOL - If Goran leaves on his own accord and leaves more guaranteed money on the table I won't hold Morey accountable, but if he leaves because the Rox don't want to match or add another year, then I will certainly hold him accountable. Goran has the highest potential of any Rocket on the team, he is exactly the type of player that fans will get excited about and love watching grow. DD
The more I look at the situation the more I think Dragic is gone. His words are clear, "The door is open". The question of loyalty went out the window when Morey dumped him without warning. His only reason for staying is because he likes the city and his teammates. But he knows the NBA is a business and there is no guarantee he will be here if he signs a contract. Morey has proven no asset is safe on this squad. That only becomes amplified with Lowry on the team. Someone has to go and Morey has shown time and time again that Lowry is his choice. Why would or should Dragic trust Morey ever again? The only way I see Dragic staying is if Lowry is gone. And even then Dragic will not be cheap. I am not as forgiving as DD. I also see Dragic as the most exciting Rocket on the squad. And if we lose him for nothing I do have to question Morey's decision making. This could have been dealt with in the season by trading Lowry or Dragic. Pick one and trade the other. If we are trying to acquire multiple assets to upgrade for a star and we lose our assets for nothing than I have to say Morey and Les' strategy is a total fail. Even JVG said this morning that he doesn't know without tanking what we do to improve. Maybe Les thinks he is doing this for the fans but I am a fan and I am sick of being mediocre. I would hate being Charllote this year but what about someone like Portland. They cleaned house and kept only the best. They are not tanking. They try to win every game but they are just not talented enough and will get a decent lottery pick and also they traded away their assets to get another great lottery pick and also traded for another high second round pick. They also cleared enough cap space that they may have enough room to sign Dragic and another free agent. In one year they should have a completely revamped team. We could have traded Scola, Martin and one of Dragic/Lowry for Draft picks. We would have sucked naturally and kept our pick this year and it would have been a 6-10 pick. We would have cleared real cap room. And we would be better going forward. Yes we would have been bad this year. But this is the year to do it. A shortened season a deep draft and we aren't winning any championships anyway.
