To be fair, Carlos was really good from June onward last year, too. The team was just so bad that few noticed.
That Chris Johnson at-bat was probably the most pathetic thing I have ever seen. I never thought Major league hitters could do that.
Love that this team just doesn't quit. Marlins errors certainly helped, but they had some good ABs the whole game. Getting easier and easier to get behind this team! Can people stop with the "the Astros suck and are going to lose 150 games this year" rhetoric now? Go Stros!
I'll still be shocked if we have under 90 losses, but it's been a fun start I hope we can keep up the good play as long as possible!
If they can maintain the current trends of working the count, the timely hitting, but also eliminate the 3 error games, I think they'll be fine. Their approach at the plate is what's impressed me the most so far. That, and JDs bat. I really hope he's the real deal.
Carlos hitting over .350, Myers with 2 saves and a 0.00 era. I feel some Luhnow magic. I mean if he can get Lowrie and Weiland for Melancon then....
Entirely misinformed statement. Despite oft-recognized holes in his game, Carlos has been a consistent hitter during his entire tenure in Houston. BTW, his biggest years here were his first three ('07-'09) AFTER signing his albatross of a contract. http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/stats/_/id/4000/carlos-lee
It's not just the hitting. That diving catch earlier in the game is what really made me take notice of the effort he is putting out there now. Besides that I'm impressed with some of out young guys out there. This win feels like a big deal to me with this young team. I'm excited to see what they can do the rest of the season.
if they have 90 losses, that's a 16 game improvement. this team seems very definitively to be better than last season.
