    Mexico.

I have no interest in being kidnapped and/or decapitated.

I don't know if you mentioned London because you've been there and didn't like it, or because you have notions of what it'll be like.

I similarly did not really seem that interested in it until I started going there for work. Now its one of my favorite places in the world. Just a thought. As mentioned it can be expensive and British food is pretty much not that great, but there is something charming about the grungy, old, historical nature of huge swaths of the city with great little pubs to relax at. For the food, just eat anything non-British and you can find great stuff. (Indian, Italian, etc.)

I also like history, so that's another reason.

Yeah, it seems like you could do that a little closer to home with a lot less crowds. And a beach, or Bourbon Street or any other setting where every individual person is supposed to be cutting loose; seems like it could get very unpleasant and exhausting very quickly for some people, especially if you're there by yourself.

Out of pure curiosity, why has Boston been crossed off your list? In my personal opinion, I feel like every American should visit the place at least once. It's like an outdoor museum of American history.

I have been fortunate enough to have traveled and lived in a number of places ... The less than impressive places I have experienced are:

Beijing - A smelly hole, in fact outside of the countryside, all of China is a dump. The countryside is beautiful though.

Florida- Just a horrible place all the way around.

Atlanta- Thought I would love it, nope.

Seattle - Just nothing special, Portland is nicer.

The Midwest - Chicago is great to visit, but the Midwest is basically a string of dying outdated small towns.

Los Angeles- Imagine a dirtier, more congested, ruder Houston with a horrible cost of living.

    Memphis - Poor and old.

Boston is on my list too. Worst accents and traffic in America.

Im not interested in visiting France or Spain.
They could be good and interesting for others, but not for me.
I would prefer go to other parts of Europe.

We had a layover in Gatlinburg on our way to DC a few years ago, and jeez I've never seen so many go-kart tracks in my life. Such a tourist trap. It's only two redeeming qualities were the hotel (it was fairly new with a nice interior) and the Smokey Mountains.

Driving through the south, my wife and I both decided we had no desire to visit Georgia, Mississippi or Alabama.

Also don't care about Vegas or the Midwest, Russia and it's former satellites...except Chernobyl, that would be a hauntingly cool place to visit. Don't really care too much about Hong Kong, Tokyo, LA or London either, but I would love to see the China, Japan and English countrysides.

Vegas is pretty high on the list.

I've always wanted to see Mayan ruins but traveling to Mexico as of late seems rather dangerous.

For anyone considering it, allow me to put in a "NO" vote for Venice. Crowded, tourist-laden, smelly, and expensive. Unbelievably overrated.

Bore-lando...no desire to ever set foot in that swamp

Las Vegas...been there, done that, and if I never go again it will be just fine with me. I much prefer Lake Tahoe to Las Vegas.

I lived in London briefly as a kid but I don't remember much of it so I don't consider it a visit. As an adult I don't have much interest in going there even though I would love to see Scotland and other places in the UK. I also visited Paris as a kid but don't have much interest in Paris or much of Western Europe except for Amsterdam.

As for the people who don't want to visit Beijing, yes it is polluted and I was constantly getting ripped off but it is worth seeing. The Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven and Great Wall are things that should be on people's bucket list.

When you've NEVER done that kind of stuff before, it might feel good to just go "wild out". That IS the point, to not be all "grounded" and "refined" about things. Its nice to get an excursion into mindless indulgence ONCE in a while.

Though again thats more for young people senses and those with money to burn.

I've lived 1/3 of my life driving & JOGGING distance beaches.

I havent "laid out" at the beach in 6 years.

I'm not a city slicker, I do like the beach climate and some of the laid back atmosphere. Though (yeah I'm going "there")... I dont' get the whole "caucasian magnetic migratory" sense of DYING to live by the beachside, driving up beach regional property values to ridiculous levels but whatever...cant unromaticize it.

I have successfully avoided Las Vegas for my entire life, and hope to keep it that way.

I haven't been to Venice either- I'd like to go but am in no hurry to go due to the overcrowding issue. I hate crowds at tourist sites so much.

You might want to hurry if you want to see Venice as it might not be there for much longer.

Venice sinking five times faster than thought?

ROME -- Venice appears to have more nicknames than street names. It’s known as the "Queen of the Adriatic," the "City of Water," "City of Masks," "City of Bridges," "The Floating City," and "City of Canals."

But is Venice destined to become "The Divers' Paradise" much faster than we thought? New research by U.S. scientists suggests it is sinking more than five times faster than experts in Venice believe.

Saying that the city is sinking is just about as obvious as saying that the wind will always blow in Chicago. It’s just a thing of nature. And there’s nothing anybody can do to stop it.

Man you all are a bunch of anti-adventure ladies. I can't think of 1 popular place in the world that I haven't gone to but have no interest in visiting. Now there are places that I have gone to that I have no interest in going back.

#1) St Louis arch. You couldn't pay me to revisit that 20 story scam next to the open sewer they call the Mississippi.
#2) The hike up Clingman's Dome. I like hiking but I'll wait in the car next time someone wants to do that one again.

But even place like Branson is good if you know what to do and not do. Sure skip the strip but rent lake cabin and a party barge and hit Table Rock or of the nearby lakes. Even Orlando...yea skip DisneyWorld but stay at the Hard Rock and hit Islands of Adventure using their free fast pass. You'll be able to hit all the rides and head back for some drinks and music by the pool for lunch. Flash your pass that evening and you get next table at the City Walk restaurants. Blizzard Beach is also a nice water park if you can hit it when the crowds aren't off the charts. Plus go around spring training time and check out some teams up close to get your baseball juices started.

Bottom line is you can usually always find something that interests you if you plan it right.

But my personal favorite is going to the FL beaches with friends. Hanging out on the white sand and emerald water under the umbrellas and tents, the kids playing in the surf, the wives laying out, just listening to music, having some cold beverages and BSing with a dozen or so of your friends and their friends...

We went to Shanghai and wouldn't go back. Didn't like it at all, but we would like to go to Beijing.
