yeah there were a couple of suns fans behind the goal where the suns players come out. there werent that many on our side. their fans seem to be pretty good. suns are the 2nd time i like. liked them since i was in middle school when they had nash, jj, q-rich, marion and amare as their starting 5
When I watch Golden State games I'm amazed. The crowd is so into it despite the team constantly being crap.
I wouldn't go as far as saying that we have the worst fans in the NBA. Look at Detroit's stadium, there is like less than 10,000 people there, lol.
There's no reason a big city like Houston cannot have enough people to watch games though I agree it's expensive. Last night's game was one of the most embarrassing ones on national TV ever. They do show up during the playoffs but have to make it first. During championship years attendance was also terrible.
Really? Detroit is like the poorest big city in America, I'd be shocked if they ever broke 10k. It's sad when a booming town like Houston has to compare to the polar opposite.
Im not watching anymore games this year. I have been disappointed from the performances of these past 2 games where the rockets got man handled by better teams. Honestly, if we happen to back in to the playoffs, we will get swept by OKC or San Antionio. I would rather take my chances with have our pick and the NY pick in the draft!
I think Les should have a true fan appreciation night and sell all tickets for less than 60 bucks. Just one game, reserve tickets for big fans, especially those who usually can't afford the tickets. I'd love to see what kind of atmosphere that would be, even for a regular season game. And pre-season doesn't count.
Superstar. When average fans don't know who our team is they don't care if they are at the game or on time. Same as the Astros.... No name recognition, so no one cares. Fans need someone to connect with... Like Yao/TMac or baseball it was Berkman/Pence. People actually wanted to see those guys do something amazing when they played.
Meh, the stadium could be packed but it wouldn't have helped Houston in that game. The Rockets are just a overachieving team, but this team still doesn't have a superstar. Shame on Morey for not providing us one yet.
The reason it was so bad last night was because that game was just depressing. After going 4-0 on a tough road trip, the Rockets come home and absolutely suck ass against the Jazz. Then against Phoenix, we look to be doing good, but Phoenix goes on a little mini-run before the half. Okay, live with that. But the third quarter? Goodness. It's really depressing to just watch the other team constantly get layups in your paint while you miss shot after shot without the coach calling a damn time out.
The Rockets played the best last night in the first quarter, when most seats were still empty. They played worse later when the seats began to fill up. So, what I am saying is that the Rockets should refund all tickets to the upcoming home game vs. Denver and see how everyone does in a completely empty gym. This is a genius idea. The fans are quite clearly a huge minus for the team's performance.
This is a fair weather town when it comes to basketball. When the team is winning and being talked about on ESPN, TNT, etc., fans will come out. Outside of that basketball almost sits in a niche market for this city. During the 22 game win streak, tickets against the Kings were going for twice face value on flashseats. Now people are dumping their season tickets for 50% off or even more of what they paid. Also, there has been such a high turnover of the roster, that the majority of Houston might not know anyone on the roster. "Scola is the only one I know still on the team." "Who's on the Rockets these days?" "Didn't they trade Luis?" "Yao still play for them?" Well, yes they traded Luis a couple of times, but he's still on the team. Not saying there is an issue with making changes to the roster, but it prevents people from getting "attached" to the team. People knew Hakeem, they knew Clyde, they knew Horry, Yao, and Mobley. They still wear Yao/ McGrady/ Dream jerseys when they do go to the games. Those are the players they know and watched the Rockets win with. Until we get back in the playoffs consistently, this city, in general, won't know Goran Dragic, Chandler Parsons, and come out to Toyota Center to watch them. That is if those guys are still around when the team gets back to mainstream discussion that we've been promised...
wait.. so your saying if u win and have somewhat of a exciting team with a future people show up?? hmm ok.. the worst teams have the woirst crowds, the best teams have the best crowds.. it's how it works.. we have a middle of the road team and have a middle of the road crowd.. I can tell u this.. winning those 4 games on the road is the reason our crowd was good against utah… taking a big dump against utah and phx can just sum up what the crowd will be like against denver… until this team can get over the #8 #9 seed hole we have been in for 3 years then no one will show up early and act crazy!
The point I am trying to make is that we have the same type of fans that most other teams in the league have. If we win, the people will come. I completely agree with you.
Haha sorry I was being sarcastic in my response because I agreed with u completely and thought sarcasm would work.. I don't get why people don't just blame our team.. Play consistent and good and people will show up.. It's not like we haven't dealt with mediocre teams for almost 10 years.. Besides one year we have either been the 9 seed or losing in the first round.. Step up and your city will be behind u.. The die hards like all of us will no matter what but the rest need a good team all the time
Rockets need to get back to Tradition.. We should have never change our colors logo.. or jerseys... We are like the Lakers, Celtics and Bulls... Get Back to the Old Us... can find some hard nose players and then we will sell out! We have no Identity! We need to protest sign a petition and flood the radio air waves.. enough is enough!!
