The club seats are not sold for the most part. They want you to think they are corporate people not showing up but the truth is that the seats just don't sell because they are overpriced. Also, club seats don't count toward the sellout number. You can say it's soldout as long as everything else is sold out.
The last game I attended a few years ago was in the nosebleeds and every time I yelled in support, everyone front and back stared at me as if we were watching an opera and I got up to scream. Weak sauce.
Wrong. Bud wanted a new stadium and the City didn't want to buy it for him. The Oilers were not a good team at that time, but it really came down to Bob Lanier and the City of Houston refusing to fork over the money to build a new stadium. After all these years the City still can't face reality and get rid of the Dome.
Don't blame fans for not supporting a weak product. Don't blame fans for not buying into Les-More's plan. A team sells tickets the same way they win championships, with a star, but the Rockets haven't had a star since Yao got injured three years ago. I hear there might be a couple in the next draft. Too bad we won't be drafting high enough to select one of them.
You are right about the Oilers. Houston sports fans have typically been about only supporting winners attendance-wise. The Texans have been given a free pass since the city lost a football team and no one wants "to face the pain of that happening again," so those game sell out. Though, fact is that with both the Toyota Center and MMP in downtown, they are just a trek for many people unless their a draw for them to attend games like a winning team that is in the playoffs. I still feel that it is obstacle for when the teams are bad or middling, and given the ubiquitous of HDTV now. For the Astrodome, they should have just move Astroworld inside the the Dome. I mean it would have been "perfect". They were never gonna find better tenants or someone to truly revitalize the Dome, and Reliant Stadium was already finished for the Rodeo and Texans. They could keep the same names. Then you have one of the few Indoor Theme Parks in the nation, and attendance might stay good since people no longer have to worry about weather.
Make a plan, get all the people on clutchfans to go to a game. See how many wanna go. Tell others to go such as friends and make them cheer. Or kill them.
Yeah....our crowd sucks. If Dallas has both Football and Basketball and they show up why can't Houston?
Playoff atmosphere. I hate all these fans that do this ****. You should automatically lose your seat if you don't claim it in the first quarter and just let everyone move up into them. You should also lose your seat when you don't put on the damn shirt (unless you are already wearing Rockets-related gear.) We embarrassed ourselves on national television tonight.
The Cowboys are one of the most storied franchises in American sports. The Mavericks won a title last year.
Hate to admit it and I know the Rockets game was on ESPN, but highly doubt a Suns-Rockets game would have that high of a Neilsen rating nationally. So, I doubt too many people saw or really even cared.
It's the Houston Oilers curse.. Come on Houston, be alive at these games, maybe in the future we can finally have our own NHL Team and we kick Dallas Star Ass!!!
Did the Rockets win a championship with star Yao Ming and star Tracy McGrady? Did they come close even?
Why would the City of Houston build a new stadium, on the taxpayers duke, when they just poured millions into upgrades at the Astrodome, on Bud Adams' request. Don't forget that part. There were a couple of new stadiums built around that time, and Bud got jealous.
Cowboys Stadium is like Toyota Center. Parking there can cost as much as tickets...or more. The Mavs are the champs, but even last season, they had many empty seats in their lower bowl because the team was getting stale (until they won).
I see what you're saying, but the Rockets couldn't even consistently sell out with a healthy Yao and Mcgrady.
Are you a fan of basketball? They might not have a superstar, but they play hard and usually you will watch some good basketball.
there were def more ppl at the Utah game than yesterday smh ppl give up after one lost at home and yesterday the crowd just plain sucked only when we got back from the deficit that they got into it , I'm a season ticket holder and I go to almost every game , unfortunately yesterday sat right behind me were obnoxious Marcin Gortat fans waving their country's flag all up in my face kept yelling for him to , they purposely tried to pissed us off , and also there were to many Phoenix fans on the lower bowl on my side , pretty sure some of them got flown to Houston for season ticker promos , I'm also goin to the Denver game and hope we can win on Sun and hopefully ppl can come on Mon but knowing our fans...
