The game was sold out today. It's just a lot of people don't come until the 2nd quarter because of work I think. I did notice tonight that a lot of people didn't put there shirts on. I had 2 rockets shirts on and a jersey. lol. The place was quiet until the end of the 4th quarter
I always leave at 5 cuz I live all the way in the Webster/Friendswood area so I can make it by the time the doors open.
we are in usa do the word mcdonals sounds familiar ? , bring some superstars and toyota center will be packed trust me
Yeah, I go to 7-8 games every season and I lose my voice yelling at the players, refs, coaches, cheering, what have you. Half the people look at me and smile and half the people look at me like I'm an idiot. I wish I was a Rowdy.
I was at the game tonight and there were so many open seats. I sat about 7 rows behind the Suns and the crowd was dead. I took my girlfriend to her first Rocket game and she even asked where all the spirit was
It can get to you if the team is in constant state of 500. The droning on to mediocre standards is not a thing Houstonians like to watch. Its what pushed out the Oilers. Its what drives down the Astros tickets sales. To win the heart of Houston you have to show some grit and guts. Pull out games you need to win.
Man if I lived in Houston I would attend every game I could. It pains me to watch tip off on tv and see fans only here and there. It's a shame the players have to come out and see such little support for them. Madison Square Garden is scary loud at times. Even during the Marbury/Francis backcourt era fans showed up every single night and cheered their Knicks on, and they were LOUD doing it (even though most of the loudness was because the fans were heckling their own players. Oh, New York)
To be honest this is one of the reasons the team needs a star. Its nice to cheer for the underdog and the team full of gritty, hard working players..but we've been doing that for the last few years. A superstar player, on a playoff team, gets the fans excited in a game and will keep them coming. Seeing a guy from your team in commercials or on ESPN or whatever keeps people interested. Now, Im not trying to blame the team or organization for not tanking or for not being able to trade/sign a star or anything, and I know star players dont grow on trees...but its just of the reasons why our arena is lifeless...I guess it is what is but hopefully we find a way to change it.
Yeah i know but still it's the thought that counts. Not just the rockets game even wwe raw is dead when i was there. The fans are too busy eating or texting.
The seats that everyone notices are the lower level side seats. I KNOW many of them are paid for by season ticket holders. Where the hell are these people? Its April. Its Friday night. We are in the playoff hunt vs. another rival. You PAID for these seats! And you just let them go to waste (shaking my head). I actually thought about going tonight (i've been to 5 games this year) since I was downtown but decided against since my knee was bothering me. I plan to go Monday night even though I'm still a bit short on $$$ these days. WHERE ARE YOU ROCKETS FANS?!?!?!?
I'll go ahead and play along. I figured Friday evening, the game was on ESPN, people had to be there to be seen on television. I was like damn man, people still showed up late. Late arriving crowd. The t shirt was basically advertisement for the Rockets. Look, 6656 will be back next season, so don't worry about it, your money is coming. They've done the whole t shirt thing before, and of course those people didn't wear it. I remember they had some gimmick for the playoffs where if you were in that shirt they were giving out, you win some type of prize or something. It was an incentive for you to wear your shirt. so lame. The last game we played before was awesome. The crowd was awesome. Hoping for a carry over effect, but it didn't happen. The Lowry chants were amazing. I had goosebumps. The these refs suck chants were awesome too. I even called it. I said to my seat mates, that a these refs suck chant would be good right about now, and it happened. Together, we made that happen. I hate the Houston sports Culture. I'll do anything to change it.
Its the damn corporate seats. So much of the lower bowl, which is the most important area, is doled out to companies and you get a great deal of sold tickets, but frequent no shows, or non sports fans that just want to go out, the stare at the phone not the game type. We technically sold out tonight, but you sure as hell couldn't tell. We're not a great basketball city to start with, combined with 15 years without anything close to a title contender and the corporate problem its a bad mix.
I was watching the game with my friend and she was like "wow everyone is wearing red, oh wait, the empty seats are just red"
And toyota center also has among the most overpriced seats I've EVER come across. I am going to the game on Sunday in Denver and bought seats for $2.90. I have bought tickets in the lower bowl at a nuggs game for $11 before. You can never do that at toyota center
i couldnt believe my eyes when i saw people sitting courtside leaving the game with 8min remaining in the 4th ... give those seats to real fans, at least they will cheer till the end and not just show up to be seen
