I don't know if he is guilty of violating the law, but if he isn't, than I think we need to change the law. Unfortunately we will never 100% know what happened that night other than that he shot and killed Martin.
It's not just one case he's referring to, and you don't get it, you don't get it because you have never had a lady clutch her purse when she sees you coming, or cross the street in fear of your presence. Half the time we aren't even carrying skittles.
Wow, life is so nice for me, and you must be omnipresent to know the reactions of all women. In reality when you see that and think 'racist' other guys might think 'man I should have shaved and put on some decent clothes' or 'wow did she catch me looking down her blouse', 'wow I am following to close, I need to be less of a creeper'. You probably assume is was all about race. Also he specifically said if found Not Guilty it means 'Zimmerman was right and Martin was wrong' and then makes grandiose conclusions of how one case signifies racism in america. That is just wrong.
It's so depressing that the narrative have focused so much on Zimmerman and not the police. In a way I do feel bad for Zimmerman. If the police had done their job, they would've gathered all the evidence right after the shooting, (likely) arrested Zimmerman with the evidence, and had a fair trial where the jury wouldn't have been tampered with by the media. In the end, I don't think judging Zimmerman is the right way to go about it. But rather, the police department and their lack of care for killing(self defense or not) is what should be judged. Yet it seems they will get away with a slap on the wrist while the media's busy stirring up racial hatred that really doesn't help anyone.
You are too focused on race, so much that you are not even willing to look at the facts with an open mind. What if there is reasonable doubt that Zimmerman was the attacker? What if the evidence shows that Trayvon attacked Zimmerman and there was actually a self-defense situation? I personally consider that unlikely (which is why I said I think Zimmerman should be arrested and put on trial) and I think Zimmerman will eventually be convicted either of murder or manslaughter, but I would not completely rule it out just because of the race of the people involved. You have a completely closed mind, and as you just posted, it is based on one thing, and one thing alone, which is the race of the shooting victim vs. the race of the shooter. I think you are really going too far here. There are plenty of cases where a black person shoots a black person, and where a black person shoots a white person. And if the evidence - even surprisingly, and contrary to initial public opinion - is sufficient to create reasonable doubt in the mind of the jury that it was murder (or manslaughter), then the person should not be convicted of that - regardless of race. That's what a trial is for. I understand what you are saying and why you feel like you feel, but you should still be more open-minded. If the evidence shows that he was, in fact, acting in self-defense (again, I consider that very unlikely, but possible), then he should be acquitted. Can you agree with that?
Folks, don't forget GZ doesn't have to prove he's innocent. The State has to prove he's guilty, guilty beyong a reasonable doubt. Are people still convinced this is a racially motivated crime? We know GZ used his own funds to tutor 2 young black males. That in itself doesn't PROVE he's not a racist, but a racist would probably have a hard time tutoring 2 young black males, let alone spending their own money on it. I think too many people are still holding on to the media's initial reporting...a 185 lb man against a 12 y.o. boy. I think the real tragedy here is that no one cares when anyone is murdered...unless there is a story they can identify with. When a white kid is killed, do blacks get upset? When a black kid is killed, do white people get upset? Same for Asians, Hispanics, etc. It seems people are only concerned with their personal narrative, rather than the nation as a whole. This really concerns me. Maybe this country needs a WWIII so they can stop the bitter nonsense with each other and just come to fking gether...right now...over me.
How about a spectacular alien visitation with certain, overwhelming evidence instead? BTW, Trayvon's mother has recently described the meeting of Trayvon and Zimmerman that night as "an accident." That would seem to discount all the profiling and hunting hatefulness that so many have proliferated here.
It would be interesting to know. I think she knows more of the facts of the case than anyone here though... and that was my point... to undermine the unnecessary and destructive suggestions and accusations made about Zimmerman that have questionable motivation.
