I agree it's all about psychology and jury selection until the jury is selected. Then I believe that it's about the evidence presented, and the cases each side makes. I believe a jury can be open to the evidence despite coming in with a certain amount of bias at the start of the case.
Except that points out that blacks aren't all locked into a group think since some of them have defended Zimmerman.
But you are talking about people who already know Zimmerman, not people who know him only as the man who shot an unarmed black kid.
A fact: Zimmerman was 5'8" and 185 lbs. A bit different than some of the sensationalist media reports early on about how there was a 60+ lbs weight difference... media bias, folks http://www.cnn.com/2012/04/12/justice/florida-zimmerman-jail/index.html?hpt=hp_t3
the media should have predicted that he will lose that much weight.. shame on them.. only in obamastan
I think this bias is extreme. Even more extreme than the positive bias OJ had. I guess it depends when the the trial takes place and when the jury is selected.
This is not at all surprising. What a strange case. George Zimmerman judge: My husband works for a lawyer who'll do case commentary for CNN
What does a not guilty verdict say to you? To me . . . It says I am threatening and suspicious . . . by my very existance. . . and following me, harrassing me, and potentially killing me because you feel threatened . . . though I have done NOTHING TO YOU . . is ok. Because. . . I am threatening . . . by my very existance. Such a verdict says . . .ZIMMERMAN WAS RIGHT TRAYVON WAS WRONG and yes. . . it is that black and white. A Black male has not expectation of safety and freedom to walk through his neighborhood unharrassed. He should therefore simply accept his second class citizenship in stide. Perhaps we should have some kind of papers or something that says we are allowed to be out . . .at night. . . or in the neighborhood and that anyone . . . ANYONE claiming authority . . .whether it is real or imagined can ask for these papers at anytime .. . and we must comply lest we be seen as threatening and beligerent and maybe subject to the most extremes of force. To you . . .this is an interesting case To me . .. It says I am no longer safe in America.. . . because. . my very existance is threatening . . You really don't have to live with the outcome at a level I will have too. Rocket River
Yeah, how dare we expect that the news media should read a calender and realize that it's 2012 and not 2005! Yes, it's so unreasonable that they should use contemporary photos of both Zimmerman and Martin rather than years old ones.
This logic falls apart when you swap it because no one concludes whites are second class citizens without the expectation of safety when trying to enter their own home at night. Yet the murders of Simpson and Brown ended in a not guilty. Why do you have to draw these grandiose conclusions about an entire society from one case?
Well, we know he couldn't go to a 7-11 for the past month so he couldn't get his ding dongs and 32oz Big Gulp. It was hard on him
From the lawyer himself. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/wor...lling-George-Zimmermans-lawyers-drop-him.html The judge didn't even recognize him. http://thestir.cafemom.com/in_the_news/136008/george_zimmermans_weight_loss_doesnt
Right, the people who saw a person of their same race/sex killed when they were doing nothing wrong have no justice found for their killings. According to you, OJ being found Not Guilty means he was right and the dead were wrong, and white people have no right to walk around their front doors.
Eh... I get the point you are making Casey but it falls apart on the key difference that in this case it is not in dispute that Zimmerman actually killed Trayvon. In the OJ case it was disputed that he killed his ex.
