I agree that there might not be enough evidence to convict. That's what a trial is for. I just think that public opinion would have been appeased by putting in front of the grand jury as well as the trial, and she could have played the outcome either way to score the most political points.
Lol Classic giddy obtuseness. Up until the special prosecutor filed 2nd degree murder charges I agreed with the facts and you were simply motivated by the the dead kid being black. Honestly who comes up with stuff like this with any seriousness? It's a Simpsons episode.
Anger at the killer of an unarmed teen not being arrested despite police investigator's believing he should be, evidence that casts potential doubt on Zimmerman's story, the police leaving the body unidentified and doing little to about it for three days, etc.
Grand Juries almost invariably return indictments. They also operate in secret and provide no opportunity to present a defense. Doing what the special prosecutor is doing (having a preliminary hearing to charge by information) provides the benefits you are claiming the grand jury would provide. A judge or magistrate will determine if there is sufficient evidence to go to trial. This tactic doesn't really prove anything either way though, because the vast majority of cases are done this way now in the states.
The police investigation is part of the process. It's not like this is the only time ever that police decided not to file charges.
Except they wanted to file Charges, the DA said not to do it. So you would be wrong in your statement above.
It was only the lead investigator who thought so initially. Somehow that report got out and we don't know any more. How many investigators were on the scene? What would prompt a decision that goes against the initial feelings of the lead investigator? Did the lead investigator change his mind? Anger, huh? Not the best motivator. The mis-handling of Trayvon's body is the greatest mystery here
All of these things are worth getting angry about, and many felt there was enough evidence to warrant making the arrest and bringing it to trial. I just want to get to the bottom of the whole mess as much as is possible. Letting the killer go without trial would have prohibited that.
Sweetie, How do you know that... aren't we jumping to conclusions? Have you seen Zimmerman's new personal website. Again, you are doing the same thing that you are accusing other posters of. I'm not entirely convinced that it wasn't racially motivated in a slight degree. Trayvon's body showed no signs of fight: mortician http://articles.nydailynews.com/2012-03-31/news/31267760_1_ems-response-zimmerman-scuffle MATTHEW LYSIAK IN SANFORD, FLA. , RICH SCHAPIRO Saturday, March 31, 2012 A Miami funeral director says Trayvon Martin’s body showed no signs of a violent brawl. Richard Kurtz said his examination of the slain Florida teen’s corpse revealed no cuts, scratches or bruises, only a gunshot wound to the chest. Kurtz’s account appears to contradict George Zimmerman’s claims that he shot Trayvon during a life-and-death struggle. “We could see no physical signs like there had been a scuffle [or] there had been a fight,” Kurtz told CBS News. “The hands — I didn’t see any knuckles, bruises or what have you, and that is something we would have covered up if it would have been there.” Trayvon “looked perfectly normal to me when he came in and the story just does not make sense that he was in this type of scuffle or fight in anything that we could see,” Kurtz added. Zimmerman, 28, claimed self-defense and was not arrested. Zimmerman’s father has said his son, an insurance agent who spent nights patrolling his neighborhood, suffered a broken nose and bloody gashes on his head during his fight with Trayvon. He downplayed a video shot in the police station that shows Zimmerman apparently free of any bruises, blood or bandages. On Friday, the Daily News obtained EMS documents suggesting Zimmerman, who an ex-colleague said was fired from a security job for being too aggressive, did not sustain serious injuries in the fatal encounter. Paperwork detailing the EMS response to the shooting scene shows that a call for a second ambulance was canceled. An audiotape containing the EMS communications, also obtained by The News on Friday, records unidentified workers discussing the scene. Zimmerman’s condition is mentioned briefly in the 30-minute recording. “Do we have a second patient?” a man asks. “That’s affirmative. We have a second patient,” a woman replies. “The second patient is not a gunshot.” http://reason.com/blog/2012/03/27/new-details-about-george-zimmermans-acco Zimmerman also claimed he cried out for help, which you could hear in some recorded audios in the background. That voice does not sound like a grown man's voice or yell, unless that man has really high pitched voice. If Zimmerman has the voice of pre-teen or teenage boy, then I might find his story a little more credible.
Well this will be a compelling trial if it ever comes about. Didn't the Sanford Police Chief step aside temporarily? What motivated that? Was it a protest against the DA's decision not to press charges? Why did the police want to press charges if they were guilty of foot-dragging on the investigation?
1.) Please don't call me sweetie. 2.) If you read everything I wrote in this thread, I am not claiming that Zimmerman is innocent. I am claiming that most of the evidence had yet to be released and everyone was drawing conclusions about a man they knew nothing about. Most of the conclusions were drawn from the media's initial misrepresentation of the suspect/victim and the events that took place. 3.) A mortician is a funeral director, he does not investigate the death. The coroner's report is all that matters, and it could very well claim the same thing. 4.) You say that I am jumping to conclusions, like everyone else. I am not jumping to any conclusion. Everything I have said is what ZIMMERMAN has said or things that have been undeniably confirmed by the investigators. A lot of other claims have been made with out any true evidence. 5.) Zimmerman apparently made that website to (1) to request funds for his defense and living expenses since he can't get a job (due to the media's sensationalizing the story), and (2) to discredit any websites made in his name claiming to collect funds for his defense. There were at least 2 sites that were claiming they were made for GZ defense, but GZ claims he has no affiliation with those.
Don't know how it works in Florida. I know that in the Casey Anthony case a few jurors said afterwards they wished there had been lesser included offenses they could have found guilty on. To the poster who said they wouldn't press charges if they didn't think it was a slam dunk...um Casey Anthony?
According to Giddyup, Martin was holding Zimmerman by the ears and slamming Zimmerman's head into the ground...
