Hill plays excellent D. My big surprise is Avery Bradley? Is he been that good? Granted, Boston is the last team I'd watch play basketball so I haven't seen him play.

    Did he really mean Rondo?

I also think that Marc Gasol has to be on that list somewhere. A lot of our defensive principles are based around Marc Gasol clogging the lane.

are these based if a player plays 3,0000000 minutes in a 48 minute game? Bradley? Rubio's left leg? No parsons over Hill? yikes.

Kobe better not be anywhere near that list this year, most undeserving 1st team all defensive selection of all time.

You might be surprised that to some extend I agree with you. Conley is a ball hawk, but he can't stand in front of his man for ****. He is constantly allowing straight line drives to the basket, which is one of the reasons the grizzlies have a hard time beating the clippers and the suns.

It's gotten so bad that Hollins has put Conley on the worse of the two guards and let OJ or Allen or even Pondexter guard the likes of Cp3, Westbrook and Nash.

    Defense is more than blocks.

If you would take Serge Ibaka defensively over Dwight or Tyson, you know nothing about basketball.

Mike Conley is by far the weirdest pick here. Rubio, I know was doing well defensively, but 2nd team? Didn't expect him to be that high.

Just another example that Hollinger doesn't know anything. I'm not sure why stat geeks are so enamored with this guy.

Can you explain how this is "not knowing anything?"

Thabo Sefolosha is a better defender at SG than Ronnie Brewer. He can also defend bigger players.

He also has Tyson Chandler as DPOY.

Not sure if I agree with Chandler being outright DPOY, though I think he should be in consideration.

I take exception with this, in so much as, the grizzlies are the #1 team in steals and #1 in points off turnovers. And for much of the season, Conley has been the league leader in steals. He didn't pull his name outta thin air here. But as I said before, if you really watch Conley, which I doubt most rockets fans do, you'd see his flaws.

That said, nobody wants to play against the grizzlies D. I might be a homer, but I'd put the grizzlies defense up against the best D's in the league and take my chances.

And Conley is a big reason why.

I'm surprised not to see Noah on there. The Bulls are great defensively, but not as much due to Ronnie Brewer or Taj Gibson as it is Deng and Noah. Noah is the reason Rose is allowed to let his man continually penetrate to the rim.

And I'll say it again, give me Kyle Lowry over any of those point guards. His transition D is all-time great, I've never seen anyone but Chuck Hayes break up more 2-on-1's because they both have some of the quickest hands ever. On iso plays, Lowry will also jam his man up like he's a CB in the first five yards. His numbers hurt because McHale has the D designed for him to let his man pass after a certain point, but as far as what he is asked to do, Lowry is flawless in that regard.

I think Hollinger places undue bias on "unheralded" players. If he can find a diamond in the rough and later go, "I told you so", he'll do that over picking the obvious name. With the exception of Lebron of course.

No Iman Shumpert? No credibility. Also, Rubio's half season doesn't put him on the list.
