Dragic is now better than Steve Nash everyone so the curse is in full effect. My God rest Goran's soul.

This is homerism to the extreme!

Dragic is still a mostly unproven player. He had a couple of good playoff games, 17 or so good games with us this year, and all of a sudden he's a franchise player...

There are two main aspects to Dragic's game that are important to his success: he keeps his dribble alive through the paint, and he is energetic all the time. I agree that the first ability is an important contributor to future success, but I also argue that he can't play at this energy level for longer periods than we've seen till now. There's a reason 90% of nba players don't do that - because it's not a reasonable demand on the human body. I don't believe Dragic can keep it up either.

At no point till this last month and half was he a viable longterm player for this team. This situation is unlike Lowry and Brooks because Lowry was playing very well off the bench and continued that success when Brooks got injured. Dragic on the other hand was not consistently putting up good numbers off the bench. As his minutes went up, his usage went up and his overall numbers too.

Don't forget that Lowry was also being talked up for the All-Star game. He was playing quite well in the first half of this season.

Dragic can't be talked about as a franchise player. Not yet anyway.

And if I were to pick between Deron Williams, Dragic, Lowry, I would go with the guy that can get the calls from the ref in the 4th quarter - Deron. That's a big part of playoff success, and a big part of being tagged a franchise player. If either of our PGs show this to me this post-season, I will happily start considering them for franchise player status.

Yeah, that is EXACTLY what I said, maybe someone else that is not as slow as you can figure out why Goran would be more sought after.

You think Miami will go after Goran Dragic instead of Steve Nash?

Nope, but I think the vast majority of the NBA teams would want Goran over Nash - it is all circumstantial.....most will want a 25 year old rising star over a 38 year old one.

Oh, flaming - just for the record Miami will not be a player for any large contract - you should know that already.

Dragic and Lowry are BOTH starting PGs and both are Rockets ATM I just hope Morey can make the most of these assets.

I like em both but I don't see any way we keep em both. For me, I would keep the one with the 6'7" wing span if at all possible, he will always be more versatile on defense.

What does that have to do with anything?

I'm saying you honestly think Miami will want Dragic over Nash?

You are saying that Dragic is the second most sought out free agent on the market, in front of Steve Nash.

The only teams that would go after Dragic are teams that are

    1. Not currently contenders
    2. Need a good PG with upside

    Hence, teams like Portland.

The teams that would go after Nash on the other hand are all the contenders and potential contenders, because Nash will immediately take a team to the next level.

Considering that a bunch of non-contenders already have a high caliber, high potential PG at the position (Washington, Cleveland, Charlotte, Detroit, Sacramento, Golden State, Minnesota, Milwaukee), I seriously doubt there are more teams going after Dragic than Nash.

I got to say though, you went from one extreme (Brooks better than Dragic in every way) to the other (Dragic is more sought after than All-Star Nash).

Even if it's true, it would only be because of age. I don't think many people would believe that Dragic was the better player at this point even considering Nash's problem on defense.

Alright. So you saying that teams would rather sign a PG who was inconsistent as a backup for 2 years hasn't started more than half a season to a bigger contract than one of the best PG's ever? Steve Nash made the Al-star game this year. He'll make All NBA as well.

Can you say that Goran will sign a bigger contract than Nash this offseason? That would determine who is more sought after right?

I think he will sign a bigger contract (total value over the term of the contract) and am willing to make a bet regarding that.

Goran is 25 and Nash is what 36? Yes it totally makes sense for Goran to have the bigger contract. Don't understand why that is so hard to fathom? The only teams that will actively hunt for Nash are teams that are in win now mode.

Of course it is because of age.......

That is 100% right, and exactly what I meant.

If that is exactly what you meant then Dragic would not be a more coveted free agent than Nash.

    No chance.

Ok, we are not agreeing again, not surprised.

I contend that an up and coming free agent like Dragic will be more coveted than a 38 year old one that has been amazing for years.

Nash will be a lot more picky about where he goes, Goran will be pursued by a lot more teams offering a chance for him to be a full time starter.

That doesn't matter, the question is which PG is more coveted.

How many teams can you name that will prefer Dragic over Nash?
