I agree with this. It's really a keep Dragic OR Lowry question. If that is true, then would the Rockets rather keep paying Lowry $6mil or pay Dragic $X mil? Dragic has been playing great, but I'm not sure the Rockets would be willing to pay him $7-8mil per even if Lowry is traded. Tying $10mil up in Dragic would be overpaying and would not make us better than OKC, SA, LAL, Mem. It's too bad that we can't trade Dragic because I don't think we can keep him.

The Blazers aren't known for overpaying either...

....and thus passed the hopes and dreams of Goran of Dragic - tragically assigned the "elite" classification by the great hot air vortex of centex, joining the illustrious rolls of fellow curse-bearers Aaron Brooks, Chase Budinger, Von Wafer, Vasilis Spanoulis, Dan Langhi, and many others before them in the Pit of DaDoom.

Farewell Goran, we barely knew you before your impending calamitous bust. Treasure these few weeks....

Hope he stays, but had to say no.

Hard to turn down a starting role from another team.

    He's gone.

We can always pick up someone like Raymond Felton to back up Lowry on the cheap. We could also address it via the draft.

You'd think Dragic was a franchise player or something. Just remember Morey found Lowry, Goran and Lin to some extent. We are in good hands and I'm glad Morey won't panic and overpay.

If Dragic was a 7-foot center or we planned on having him start, the Rockets should not and will not offer him an egregious contract.

Who said anything about "Over" paying?

Just pay the guy the market rate, match whatever someone offers and add a year.....they can only offer 3 years I believe so you match and offer 4, that hardly hamstrings a franchise.

And then see what you can get for Lowry, because in 2 years, he is going to be getting a GORAN sized contract too....

You must choose - now is the time - and IMO, you choose the guy that is taller, more athletic, a better passer and defender - Dragic.

You guys on here get too caught up in Money, or how much a player costs etc....who the **** cares?

Just put the best players on the court for the Houston Rockets and get to the championship, I don't care if Les has to pay to get there.....it ain't my money !

[DD logic]Someone pays Rashard Lewis $20 million. THE MARKET HAS SPOKEN! THE MARKET IS NEVER WRONG! NOT OVERPAID AT ALL! [/DD logic].

DD, this is not baseball. Money absolutely does matter even if it's "Les's money" because there's such a thing as a salary cap in the NBA. If we're going to have to pay $10 mil on a position that we already have an awesome player locked down with a cheap contract, I don't see how we can match it.

I do not care if he is overpaid. Should be by the Rockets. Morey needs to step it up. Here is the guy he needs plus Lowry on our own roster. One of them can be moved to fit the others need if the situation calls for it. In addition they have Kevin Martin to help atrade for a superstar happen. They need to keep him. I am not gonna be on any Morey bandwagon if he lets him go somewhere else why we slowly rebuild this team over a few more years.

It's not only just this though.

The rockets have an asset, that of they let walk away they get nothing in return - ZERO! But if they keep him and re-sign him, they'd be able to trade away Lowry (as much as I hate to say it) for a solid piece in return.

    It's weighing up whether we:
    1) pony up, pay Dragic and have a solid piece in return for trading Lowry.

    or

    2) we let him walk and ONLY have Lowry.

    Big difference.

Yeah, let's go for the one or two exceptions to the rule......Rashard Lewis, lol...and I believe they eventually did a S&T for him, right? Got a large trade exception.

We do have an awesome player locked down for 2 more years....and that is it......I certainly hope you guys are on board with Kyle getting $10 million a year in 2 years.....

Since when does an $8-$10MM/yr contract ruin a franchise? It is not like we will be paying anybody else a ton of money in the immediate future. If we are going to go the stay competitive route and not tank we are going to have to take a few chances if we want to get good. If Goran leads us to the playoffs for the first time in three years how can you simply just let him walk at the end of the season unless a team ridiculously overpays him by offering a close to max deal.

    No **** !!!

We are paying KMart $12 million to sit on his butt and not screw up the playoff run.

If the Rockets are serious about contending they need to get the best possible players here, and then keep them based on their contribution. Yes, don't overpay, but do all you can to keep from losing him. Otherwise, the Rockets are merely a revolving door and going nowhere.

The FailBlazers will do everything they can to get their dirty little paws on our gold......Morey will object......Dragon will stay a Rocket unless a team offers up a star.

i really hope, and i cant see another option, cant let him walk for nothing ... my dream scenario for the offseason would be the rockets unveiling a new uni during the dragic's new contract signature's press conference ^^
