Which tips the scale even more in Lowry's favor.

    Lowric > D-Will

I think the two of them are great and could make one of the best backcourts in basketball with CLee, but unfortunately I don't think it's going to happen.

I am normally always in the "Superstar over two very good players" camp, but I don't think that it is as clear that Deron will be that much better than either one of the two in the next few years. If it was Lebron or Howard, yeah...but Deron...no.

deron - the guy has had 4 seasons of averaging a double double (and 2 others including this one where he is close to averaging a double double) and nearly averagings 20/10 in playoff games

yes NJ sucks big time but there is practically no one on that d-league team for Deron to play with as Kurt Thomas says cant "make wine out of water" Deron was a complete beast when he was in Utah with actual talent around him. There is nothing that says he wont be that same type of player if he came to houston with guys like Lee, Scola, Patterson, Martin, Parsons, Camby etc around him.

And other stars in the league want to play with Deron and would sign with the team to do so and as great as Lowry and Dragic have been the last seasons no all-star let alone elite player is clamoring to play with them. Its a sad state in the NBA where its become team up with friends and other stars but it is how it is and unless the Rockets get a star or have someone developed into a recognized star its going to be very hard for them to legitimately compete for a title

I agree with you that a new contract starting at $10m is probably a high estimate. It might even be a little high for an average. But, that Steve Nash contract that Cuban rejected was 8 years ago, when the cap was about 3/4th the size it is now. That Nash contract as a percentage of the cap would today be something more like $13m per instead of $10m per.

You are wrong on the first part. The max contract starts at 17.5 million. Unless Dragic gets a starting salary of over 10 million, they will not make more than Deron. Even with Deron, we would also have to carry another PG on the roster which adds more money.

A healthy Ginobli is one of the most underrated players in the league. Manu has the ball in his hands in the fourth quarter and he has shown that he can consistently make big plays for himself or others with games on the line in the playoffs. He is a big time player. He still gets on my nerves though because of his flopping.

Manu has been the better playmaker, finisher, and plays much better defense.

Dragic has half a season under his belt as a starting PG. We still have to see how he performs under pressure in the playoffs once teams do their homework and he is well-scouted.

Manu/Parker are proven products while the jury is still out on Lowry/Dragic which is why there is absoluetly no way any current contender would take Lowry/Dragic over Parker Ginobolli, if healthy, even with the age.

Manu is almost 10 years older than Dragic. For the next 10 years, I'll take Dragic.

You guys must not remember how Deron Williams torched us twice in the playoffs. Especially that 07-08 year when he faced constant double teams and shot over 45% from the field and over 50% from three.

As long as we have an outstanding rookie behind him like Kendall Marshall or an established vet like Eric Maynor or player of his caliber we should be fine.

I would only do it knowing that my back up is capable of producing under extended minutes at the one if a possible injury occurred. Let's say 10-15 games, which is slightly over a month of time in a regular season schedule.

I'd trade Lowry and Dragic for Dwill, because then we have a chance at Dwight. Bring over Llull to back him up or sign a veteran.

LOL its amazing your torn since your post 100% favors against Deron. Honestly I'm beginning to think every player in the league aside from DH and LBJ are overpaid.

Morey and statheads talk all the time about max players being worth more than the max, that's why they're valuable but what we're seeing is these so-called best players in the league can't carry teams on their back.

Yeah, D-will torched us in the playoffs but so what, now we're seeing he can't make his a team a playoff team in the East. Max players comprise 30% of your capspace, but now we're seeing these guys can't make their teams average all by themselves.

OTH, guys like Lowry make 1/3 of their cost yet play just a bit worse than these guys. Plus, you don't need to deal with the prima donna issues which can destroy locker rooms. Give me Dragic and Klow anyday.

As much as I love Dragic and Lowry, if you have the opportunity to trade for a superstar, you do it. D-Will is a top 3 PG in the NBA. There's only 3 PG's I'd trade Dragic and Lowry for:

    1. D. Rose
    2. Deron Williams
    3. Chris Paul (even though hes a flopper)

    Keep Dragic and Lowry.

It is definitely the right now.

Young.. pretty much in there prime.. tough, and definitely a part of my heart now.

Trading both, especially Dragic, will honestly make me cry.

How bout get rid of K-mart and Scola for Lamarcus Aldrige?

Or maybe Kyle Lowry for Lamarcus Aldrige?
