It seems likely to me that someone like the FBI actually are investigating the threats right now, but aren't commenting. It's taken this long and longer to decide whether or not to charge Zimmerman; I don't think it's surprising to take just as long to make an arrest for the threats from the Black Panthers.

I will do the best I can but I am on a smart phone and honestly,if it is important to you, then do a basic google search on "Eric Holder and hate crime" and you will find a lot of material.

There is lots of quotes and the issue has been covered quite a big because Eric Holder has discussed and supported hate crime legislation in the past.

During Senate hearings on the proposed Matthew Sheppard Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2009, Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions offered the following hypothetical scenario to Attorney General Eric Holder: “[A] minister gives a sermon, quotes the Bible about homosexuality, is thereafter attacked by a gay activist because of what the minister said about his religious beliefs and what Scripture says about homosexuality.” Sessions then wanted to know if the minister would be protected under the new proposed hate crimes legislation, because he was attacked specifically because of his religious views. AG Holder responded:

Well, the statute would not — would not necessarily cover that. We’re talking about crimes that have a historic basis. Groups who have been targeted for violence as a result of the color of their skin, their sexual orientation, that is what this statute tends — is designed to cover. That would not be covered by the statute.

Later in the hearing, Oklahoma Senator Tom Coburn asked AG Holder about last month’s attack on a US Army recruiting office in Little Rock by Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad, a radical Muslim, that left Pvt. William Long dead and Private Quinton Ezeagwula seriously wounded. The recruiting office and soldiers were targeted simply because they represented the US military. Again, Holder responded:

"There’s a certain element of hate, I suppose. What we’re looking for here in terms of the expansion of the statute are instances where there is a historic basis to see groups of people who are singled out for violence perpetrated against them because of who they are. I don’t know if we have the same historical record to say that members of our military have been targeted in the same way that people who are African-American, Hispanic, people who are Jewish, people who are gay, have been targeted over — over the many years."

I am not making a judgment on Mr. Holder, there are different opinions on what the purpose or reasoning for hate crime legislation. Some people believe that any crime motivated by racial, ethnic, sexism or creed should be protected under hate crime legislation. Other folks believe only certain, historically vulnerable groups should be protected. At a minimum Eric Holder was honest and straight forward to the questions asked.

Concerning the black panthers, this is not the first time there has been controversy concerning Eric Holder and the black panthers.

Having said all that it is STUPID of the Zimmerman family to speak up now.

I like how not wasting millions of dollars and scarce DOJ resources prosecuting a few morons who stood around a polling station in inner city philadelphia saying that obama was a b**** is somehow evidence of an Obama-Holder-Black nationalist conspiracy in wingnut eyes, and a controversy in supposedly mainstream eyes.

It's actually not controversial at all in the real world.

I didn't make a judgment as to whether it valid or not, I said it isn't the first time that Holder has been involved in controversy concerning the black panthers..... I stand by that. As far as it not being controversial... it was covered by CNN and FOX, as well as local news and the papers... so I would say it was a controversy.

If you are saying that some Republican congress folks has an agenda, I would agree, the Republican party has for some reason hitched their time and efforts to voter fraud by poor people and minorities. They got a little traction on ACORN, but that died down...... and I am not sure why they are still beating a dead horse 5 years later.... all it does is make them seem more class and race obsessed.

Nope, that doesn't count in this case. If you listen to the audio friends of the new black panthers have said he's wanted "in bed or no jive." And if you enhance the video it's clear to see that his lips say that phrase.

Zimmerman admitted at the scene that he killed Martin and they've gone well over a month hemming and hawing about whether to charge him. I suppose the wheels of justice turn ponderously slow.

    FB, lol.

So isn't this "Hate Speech" and not a "Hate Crime" since no actual crime has been commited? Now if some idiot actually acted on the hate speech then i can see the BP's being held reponsible.

I'm not a lawyer as you might have guessed so maybe someone can school me on how this is a Hate Crime in America.

I think the dead or alive can be construed as terroristic threat (like you might get arrested for because you were pounding on someone's door and saying "I'm going to kill you!" as a relative of mine once discovered). That's for the locals to take care of though, not the DOJ.
