The fact that Morey got plenty of offers for Lowry and turned them down tells you how much he is focused on value. It's not the absolute production as a player, but rather the production per dollar that Morey looks at. The problem is that Goran is seriously getting hyped up now because he's finally getting the PT that lets him showcase his potential. At this rate, if Goran gets 8-9 mil, it's hard for me to imagine that Morey will think that Goran's production outweighs Lowry plus an extra 3 mil, especially in the new CBA.

I think the only scenario we keep him is if Morey can find a deal to land a legit star by trading Lowry, given how much demand there is for him. I wouldn't mind that if we can get the right pieces. I think Goran's got more upside with his length and shooting.

I think he's officiallly priced out. Somebody's going to overpay him. Good for him.

In theory, yes. But the Rockets staff have to be pretty damn good in keeping both players happy in a dual-PG system. Dragic has said he wants to run a team. Makes sense, as he studied under Nash and Nash basically run the Suns every minute on the floor. Dragic is a guy who wants the ball in his hands.

I think it's more difficult in practice than in theory. Especially if a team like Portland or NO tell Dragic that once he's there, he's the man who runs the whole show.

What does Martin have to do with this?

Dragic is going to want to be the starting PG for a team. If Lowry is coming off the bench fine, but if there is going to be some starter spot controversy then:

Trade Lowry to Sacramento for Chuck Hayes and thier 2012 #1 (top 1 protected). Let Dally walk and draft MKG. That leaves money to chase Asik.

    Dragic / Llull
    Martin / Lee / Budinger
    Parsons / MKG / Morris
    Scola / Patterson / Hayes
    Camby / Asik / Hayes

Trade Lowry for a lotto or outstanding young prospect.

Offer Goran 4 years, $40M ish

    If Goran walks, tank.
    If Goran stays, win.

I voted no even though I want him to be a Rocket next season.

How he performs in the playoffs will determine how much money we give him IMO. As of now, he is playing well, but hasn't been playing well enough to convince the Rockets' management that he is worth the big bucks IMO.

What did DM do the last time he was faced with paying for two starting PGs? He kept Lowry and let Brooks go.

DM will only keep either Lowry or Dragic.

My best guess is that the Rox will keep Lowry and let Dragic go.

Bottom line is that more things have to happen for Goran to stay (contract agreement, trade partner, etc.) than for him to leave.

Because of this, my gut tells me he is gone. Especially if he goes bananas in the playoffs.

Somebody will price him out of our range. Good for him, though, he's earned it.

Goran gets his pay day, and we soldier on with Kyle and company. Not like we're hurting for a PG either way.

Oh yes, right in the middle of the playoff push is exactly the time to ask the hard questions about the offseason. Dwight and Lebron have both proven that.

Good organizations pay their best players, they don't worry about paying market price for their better players.

Bad ones, who pinch pennies, do....

This offseason and especially Goran's situation will tell a LOT about whether the Rockets really do care about winning or just pretending to care.

Nice to see that you've already set the table for yourself to be mad at Morey if Dragic leaves, no matter what the circumstances are.

I'd roll my eyes, but it's not really worth the effort at this point.

I won't be mad if Goran CHOOSES to leave and the Rockets have put forth the best offer on the table.....

If the ROCKETS choose to not compete for him, then yes, I will be upset, as should any knowledgeble Rockets fan.

    Disagree,

The Rockets are in no position to overpay players.

There should be no urgency to keep players "no matter what" on a rebuilding team. The time to overpay is when your core is set and adding/keeping that one piece is the difference from being or not being a contender.

Locking Houston into the 6th, 7th, 8th seend for the next five years is the worst thing we can do in my opinion. You maintain your flexibility by having bargain contracts so you can be a player for every major franchise player that becomes available either via free agency or trade.

What does that mean? What is OVERPAYING players mean? If the market determines a price, the Rockets need to match it, they are in NO position to penny pinch here, they have plenty of cap room, could amnesty if they need to, and can offer more years and bigger raises...

If you don't keep the better players, you never GET a core. Who on this team is a core player? We don't have a single one...right, at some point you have to draw a line in the sand and say, we build around this guy, or these guys.

Goran is probably the most important player on the Houston Rockets right now he has the best chance of reaching that "ELITE" level, not another guy on the team has that in him.

You keep those High upside players......unless you are bull****ting the fans and are not really trying to win.
