I'm going out of the country and need sturdy set of good suitcases. I live in the NW side of town but was thinking of going to katy mills outlet to see if they have anything over there for a relatively good price. Any advice would help. Thanks!

I've been through a ton of cheapo suitcases. Baggage carriers beat the bloody hell out of them. It's something that I would spend the extra $$$ on for quality.

Costco has some good stuff. I bought some Kirkland Signature luggage (Costco brand) and it is very sturdy.

Try Macy's as well. I just bought one there for less than half the original price.

Agree with this. Macy's oftentimes runs sales and you can get some good deals on good luggage.

I was thinking of Marshalls or Ross, but are those legit? I know they are name brands but aren't they they rejects that the other dept stores didn't want?

I have good success with High Sierra soft sided bags. I have travelled with them to China, Hawaii, Brazil (5 times), France and other locations.

Here is an example (although the colors they show aren't too appealing):

The big three for frequent flyers are:

    Tumi
    Briggs & Riley
    Travelpro

Victorianox is working its way into the discussion as well.

You can often find these online for sale at zappos.com or amazon.com

You can also get them at places like Nordstrom Rack, etc. on sale.

I travel up to 200K miles a year and I bought the kirkland suitcases from Costco. 1.5 million miles and going and they have the best warranty. Unlimited, no questions asked return policy. With brands like Tumi, you have to pay to have them shipped and returned to you, and they just repair. They don't replace suitcases.

That being said, I heard the latest version of their 22" suitcase doesn't fit in the overhead wheels first.

Before our vacation three years ago, we found a nice ensemble/kit of small and large suitcases at ROSS for a low price.

Is that right next to the toilet store? Where you got your clothes?

Yes, I've traveled internationally many times with it. Should last a good while. I am happier with this buy compared to my previous set of Samsonite luggage.
