Injuries were not his setback, it was his ego. It was the same thing that caused him to burn bridges with Magic, Raptors, and Rockets. It was ego that also caused Bulls to pass on him for Keith Bogans. Fans can work with injuries. We all know that is part of the game.

This reminds me, what the hell is up with our 04-05 line-up, It's build out of a trash can other than Yao and Mac

    you absolutely CAPITALIZED "BEFORE".

He "toggled" between great and elite?
Do other superstars press between "great" and "elite" button?

The Orlando Magic years with Tmac were the most overrated years ever for any player. They played in an inferior conference and they won no playoff series, and on top of that, at the end of his tenure the team went lottery. yeah his stats were great during those years.

At least during his years here when he was healthy, he didn't turn us into a Lotto team.

I also remember when Steve and Cuttino DOMINATED (see the capitalization there?) the L-EASTERN CONFERENCE too.

    He'll get in dude.

Try MVP, Dpoy, and finals MVP in the same year. That's a true lifetime achievement

    Injuries did set McGrady back

Injuries were his setback. His ego would have never came into play in these events if he was healthy throughout his Rockets tenure. He does have an ego that did destroy his public image but so do a lot of other superstars. If he would have recovered even after all the stints he pulled and won the Rockets a championship most if not all of the people who bash McGrady would cheer him on. Just look at how Kobe handled his cheating and bashing of Shaq. And then he gets Shaq to ask for a trade and the Lakers suck while Miami wins a championship. People hated Kobe...still do. But he got a lot of those people back because he won with gift to the Lakers named Pau Gasol.

    T-Mac was elite then faded

I never said anything about McGrady being elite in Orlando having anything with DOMINATION of the EASTERN CONFERENCE. Don't see why you bring up Franchise and the Cat playing well in the conference. McGrady was an elite talent but his Orlando supporting cast was pathetic.

What does it matter what conference McGrady was in or how good his team was? Does that make him any less of a superstar? If you put any other SG on that Magic team to replace McGrady(Kobe Bryant, Ray Allen, Vince Carter, Paul Pierce) do you really think they will get out of the first round? Do they not belong as superstars because everyone else around them can't pull their weight? Do you think healthy McGrady replacing Kobe on those championship Lakers has him as a can't get out of the first round loser? Does he hold the same stigma if he pulled that quitting crap even after winning some rings?

He toggled because of injuries. Other players in that elite class at the time didn't suffer his type of injuries(back and knees) that shortened his 'elite' status window. He was elite BEFORE he came to Houston. That statement doesn't state he couldn't be elite AFTER he came to Houston which he was in the beginning but I think his injuries were starting to catch up to him slowly.

And his last season in Orlando he was hurt the last part of the season. He was not healthy. And look at this team...http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/ORL/2004.html...garbage.

I've never understood the hate for Tracy and I don't get it when people say he quit. When exactly? Because all I remember is a guy who gave us the best years of his career. Sure he didn't get us any rings but look at our rosters when he was here. Outside of Yao (who was never fully healthy while they played together) we NEVER had any real talent on those teams.

13 in 30 seconds made him a Houston Rockets legend in my eyes and I will always have nothing but love for him.

When was the last time anyone in this thread had more hope than doubt about the rockets? for me, it was when tmac and Yao were on board. Both of them, not just one or the other. I miss the days of hoping... now I just want us to tank because you cant fight against dirk/Kobe/Durant without having a star of your own.

I like this team though. I like the development of these young guys, Lowry, Dragic, Parsons, etc

I don't have Olajuwon like expectations, but it doesn't mean this team isn't worth watching. They are worth it.

No drama, dudes playing for one another. Great stuff.
