Even better was the fact that his walk tonight happened after going down 0-2. Something has clicked with him. If this is the real Altuve, he's going to have a very good year. We won't know until he goes into his first slump. If he can get through it without falling back into swinging at everything, he'll do very well.
I guess we'll file that under things I didn't know. I guess I was unfair to Wesley. Those are legit numbers.
I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere, but I knew it was close since Lyles was the youngest until Trout came up last year, and Lyles is only 5 months younger than Altuve. Once I heard Trout was in AAA, I figured there was a good chance, and sure enough, the youngest by 4 days (unless ESPN was missing somebody).
I like the approach of the hitters so far (albeit early) this season. They seem to really be working the counts and getting the opposing starters into high pitch counts kind of early. Beachy was pitching well last night but I noticed he was at 50+ pitches before the end of the 3rd inning. Granted, the errors prolonged his outing, but a lot of our guys were working the count. I think that's a great trend if they can keep it up.
Did you see Luhnow and Postolos smiling and laughing after Maxwell hit that bomb? They said this was Maxwell's first time in Texas
Man, and I was seriously worried about pitching coming into this season. It is still only less than a week though.
It is a small sample size, but the results are encouraging nonetheless. The big unknowns in the rotation are Happ and Harrell. Weiland is young but has decent stuff. Norris and Wandy should continue to put up above average numbers. Happ has the potential to be a Cliff Lee-lite pitcher, but really has to focus in on location and control. And Harrell seems to have put up good numbers wherever he has been, just needs the opportunity and more starts.

When I went to the season opener, there was a couple sitting a few rows in front of us that had on t-shirt versions of the Colt .45 jerseys. They look pretty awesome.
