I don't think so. Even when T-mac came back with the pistons the boos where small. A lot of fans clapped.

but it is his fault cause he was on those teams. it's not kobe's fault or lebron's fault cause they don't play on the Rockets. if you are on that team, it's your fault for the teams failures and it's your credit if they win.

What I truly hate is how McGrady gets free pass by the fans now for his failures and also how they claim he would have won a championship, he was never close.

People that were close to winning a championship? those who actually made to the championship series.

Moses won a championship, he was close with the Rockets and he was a champion with the Sixers.

    That's the true definition .

His overall career in Houston was good. It brought a lot of excitement and exposure to the Rockets.

He's in. Don't let the divorce cloud your judgement.

I didn't like the way he left either and the charade he pulled out either.

I have no doubt he's in.
They probably won't boo him, but who knows. But he's likely not going to be there since the Hawks play that night.

Also he didn't show up on the bench that year we beat Portland cause he was off in Chicago or wherever. Unlikely he shows up when they have to play a game and he gets to play his 7 minutes or so with the Hawks.

I'm sure there'll be a smattering of boos mixed with the applause...maybe more booing since he won't be there and folks will feel more free to kick a guy not in the building.

Totally forgot about that! In hindsight, I was glad because as far as I'm concerned, T-mac left the Rockets after the 2008 playoffs.

    T-Mac: Applaud or Boo

Tracy McGrady is far too polarizing in this forum. He was an elite player BEFORE he came to Houston. He then toggled between great and elite in the beginning but had no true third scoring option until it was too late when injuries derailed his and Yao's careers. It isn't ALL his fault but he has to take some blame. I don't dislike T-Mac but like other fans just wanted more. I say he brought more highs than lows so should be applauded in the end.

By the way, who is going to be on that 2000 decade team?

    My guesses:
    1st Team
PG: Steve Francis (be weird seeing him in his current condition)
SG: Cuttino Mobley (last I heard of him he was trying to grow pot)
SF: Tracy McGrady (let's be serious, he could ball)
    PF: Luis Scola (fan favorite)
    C : Yao Ming (duh!)

    2nd Team
    PG: Aaron Brooks
    SG: Shane Battier
    SF: Ron Artest
    PF: Chuck Hayes
    C : Dikembe Mutombo

    3rd Team:
    PG: Kyle Lowry
    SG: Jon Barry
    SF: Jim Jackson
    PF: Carl Landry
    C : Kelvin Cato

    4th Team:
    PG: Bobby Sura
    SG/SF: Glen Rice
    SF/PF: Maurice Taylor
    PF: Scott Padgett
    C/PF : Juwan Howard

Based more on merit/contribution rather then fan votes...as far as I can remember on all these players.

Tmac wanted more than 5 min a game but the coach refused to mess up the chemistry my putting him out there, who wouldn't want to be traded in that situation? I thought it was embarrassing that he was booed to begin with! He never had the team to win it but he will go down in history as one of the best playoff scorers of all time..,

    Wrong.

He was the same player, the same player that dunked on Shawn Bradley.
    New coach new team.

He averaged 28 points on a bad team in Orlando, then averaged about 26 points when came to the Rockets. A much better team on a much better conference with another all star in Yao Ming to share the ball with.

I swear you can't find one person with a historically correct view of this dude.
That's why I trust Clutch and his articles to keep me sane .

    wrong.

he wasn't ready to play more that many minutes . Chris Webber on NBATV even said that he had the same situation happen to him.

He played more than 5 minutes with New York. You know what happened right?

Yes this is where he was sent. The Knicks.

Wow what a lot of haterade. I was gonna post a long rebuttal here, but I honestly I don't have time or energy to deal with another Tinman b****fest (LMAO this dude keeps saying he hates Tmac but he only posts in Tmac threads) so I'll make it short and sweet:

    1. I hope he gets in.

    2. I hope he doesn't get booed.

If Deke doesn't make it and T-mac does, it's even worse than not including Thorpe in the 90s. Fans are blinded by highlights and stardom, they should just pick the guys who gave it their all and made sure we got where we needed to go: Yao, Deke & Battier should be locks based on this alone. The rest I couldn't care less about, though I wouldn't mind the hardest workers getting it meaning Hayes & Scola.

I never said I hated the guy, go find that quote. I have said before that his fans are stupid though.

you wish I only post in tmac threads. look at my post count buddy. I drop knowledge on these tmac threads cause so many people are just wrong on their information.

the fact you that you 'hope he doesn't get booed' says something

You know that was NEVER a thought for ANY ROCKET PLAYER on the 70s, 80s, and 90s.

He was given 8 minutes a game, not 5.

He dictated his own personal in & out schedule the year prior (on a team good enough to win), including an NBA first midseason personal offseason. The next season, he tried to do the same thing when he self-announced his return weeks ahead of the team MRI evaluation to determine his timetable, including a stunt where he dressed for the Timberwolves. He then decided he was going to dictate his minutes to Rick, and quit on the team after they told him no.

Later, he admitted he wasn't ready like he claimed to be.

In October as a Piston, he admitted he was only then getting back his original form.

Today, he STILL will not play the second half of back-to-backs: his decision, not the coaches.

The truth is, he flubbed the rehab for his original scope, ended up having microfracture surgery, and was never going to be the same person again.

I don't damn him for the condition of his knee, but the way he handled his situation was the most self-absorbed way possible, and he urinated all over our team in the process. The 2008 squad was more than talented enough for him to lay back and do what the knee let him. Instead, he literally cost them games with his need to be the center of the universe and team-last behavior. The next season, he was a black cloud that visibly weighed on the Rockets until he was finally shipped out.

It's rather simple really. You either excuse his selfish behavior because he was a "star" or had sportcenter highlights, or you dont.

I don't. I don't under typical circumstances, and I find it especially repugnant when he was surrounded by the hardest working, most selfless team in the league.

And folks, don't start saying that plenty of stars acted like this. Stars might have acted like this on other teams, but not the rockets. I don't particularly give a crap about what other teams fans think or think is ok for star behavior. And don't start comparing what went down with hakeem years ago to tmac. hakeem was never this egregious in his behavior. Ever.

So, again, it's simple. Either excuse his selfish behavior or dont. But call it what it is.

13 and 33 was worth it all... brought tears to my eyes that day- everyone is upset because he did not accomplish what he should have, but either way- amazing players like that dont come around often.

    Watch your Tone!

Wow. Now that just a superior and mean attitude. I said in the next line that he then toggled between great and elite in the beginning with the Rockets which I would consider his 1st two seasons to be more specific. I say great because of injuries. Injuries are his biggest detriment which started in Orlando but in Houston got significantly worse. His talent let him overcome these setbacks but his overall impact for the team was hindered because of it. I like McGrady. I wish him nothing but the best. Hope he wins a ring. Hope he makes a comeback however unlikely it is. You really think only you and Clutch are the only ones who remember McGrady for who he really is? Calm down and watch how you talk/write/chat/communicate with a fellow Rockets fan.:mad:
