In that case, it would make even more sense to go after him. Sure, it's a risk. But center is the one position Morey can't seem to draft well and have no big upside. I mean, we are pretty good at the guard positions. Parsons is already solid with Morris being the "upside" guy. Scola is solid and Patterson/Motiejunas both have "upside." So it seems a big gamble for a starting center seem the best use of cap space.

Truth: Asik is gonna choose where he goes. Location and money are always key.

Dally came here by choice. In other words he wants to be here. Camby 'said' he wants to stay here. Lets take his word.

Those are two you can bet on wanting to stay. Asik is different. Howard, well thats a whole dif story. Nothing is known. Period.

    Bet on what you know.

I have no quarrel what so ever about Dally coming off the bench. Off the bench, he provides.

    1. Re-sign Dragic and Lee
    2. Lowry/Martin/Dalembert/Morris/Picks for Howard/Duhon
    3. Bring over Llull/Donuts
    4. Sign a back sg like Willie Green or Anthony Parker on the cheap

    Roll with:

    Dragic/Llull/Duhon
    Lee/Parker
    Parsons/Bud
    Scola/Patterson/Donuts
    Howard/Camby

    BAM!

Trading for Howard in the offseason would be one full season, not a half season. And we would absolutely be contenders for that season.

    Dragic / Boykins
    Martin / Lee
    Parsons / Bud
    Scola / Patterson
    Howard / Camby

We also have our amnesty still and could sign another free agent if needed. We could flip Martin for Iguodala. We could easily go all in for next year, even if Howard bolted. And why would he bolt anyway? Deron is going to walk to Dallas on a completely gutted team, so NJ would not longer be a destination. NY/LAL is capped out. Dallas would have 40 million committed to Dirk/Deron, and Haywood at another ten. Even With amnestyingi Haywood, they have 18 million dollars to spend on 11 players. There have even been rumors of a Deron/Howard fall out.

You get Howard here I think there is a great shot he stays. Even if he doesn't, a great shot at a single championship is far better than drafting Leonard and developing our existing frontcourt.

1 I like the move for Beal (not Lamb). Lowry and Morris for Beal and future pick?
    2. Can't do S&Ts anymore. We can only offer Asik the MLE due to the gilbert arenas rule.
    3. Agreed.
    4. Martin does need to go (ppat and morris are likely to be trade bait as well), but scola can handle that spot for now. We can amnesty him off the books when donuts is ready.

i like how everyone just ignores this statement...is this true? If so why are we talking because hes restricted and bulls will prob not even wait and just offer him the MLE before anyone can ever bother.

Yea it's true, but idk if the bulls can offer him money because of their salary cap situation.

It is true, although I should have added that "the third year salary can jump considerably." In fact, "it is allowed to be as high as it would have been had the first year salary not been limited by this rule to the average salary."

Also, "in order to determine the size of the offer the team can make, they don't fit just the first year salary under the cap. Instead, they must fit the average salary in the entire contract under the cap. So a team $8 million under the cap is limited to offering a total of $24 million over three years, $32 million over four years, or $40 million over five years."

    https://webfiles.uci.edu/lcoon/cbafaq/salarycap.htm#Q38

So forget the chances are slim to none part, as I guess we actually could outbid the Bulls if they're worried about the tax. Still, lots of other teams could do the same.

I think he could see some time at the Center position, based on matchups, but primarily he's going to be battling Patterson for minutes behind Scola. Obviously there is a chance of a shakeup come draft day trades, but for next year I dont think he's going to get minutes handed to him at any position. However, from what you heard last Summer and this year, Kevin McHale is really looking forward to working with him over the Summer.

Its going to be an interesting Summer of development for him, Patterson, and co. I think the Rockets post play could become a position of strength for this ballclub next year rather than the position of weakness that it is now.
