You know, I have NEVER wanted The Rockets to tank or lose to better position themselves in the draft, until this year. I thought we just needed to pick a direction to get out of this same ol same ol. So I've been on record stating I'd like to lose and hopefully have 3 first rounders this year. My thoughts were we'd be able to trade up, or stock up on some young talent in this deep draft and hopefully rebuild. Well, I missed the boat. This team continues to fight. So how can I not pull for the team that I've loved for so many years? This team wants to win and I want to win with them. While i'm not expecting a deep run, this team is very exciting to watch, it'll be fun giving whomever we play fits in the playoffs. Who knows, maybe these guys can continue to surprise me. I know from here on out I'm not going to doubt this team or the fight they have in them for one more second. As far as McHale goes, the jury is still out. I think coach is still learning some things as well. Only time will tell how good he can be.
You forget the top 6 pick from the Knicks next season, which we would've had if NY didn't get Linsanity. Not only that, Lin would've been a very capable backup, and even if Nene played like crap we would've still had Patterson, Hill and Hayes as depth along with Gasol. As far as the Mchale hire goes, I think he isn't as good as PRIME Adelman, but he's certainly better than CURRENT 60 year old retiring age Adelman. Just look at their records, I'm pretty sure we would be in the lottery by now if we still had Adelman as coach. You think he'd be able to coax this kind of play of Dalembert? Or have the guts to play Parsons over C-bud and Morris? C'mon, dude couldn't even get over the fact we traded Brooks away even if he was playing like crap.
Regarding the way our team performs better in the clutch with McHale than Adelman... Anyone else get the feeling this is because Kevin Martin hasn't been playing at the end of games lately? I don't want to pile on the guy, but his style was simply not suited for iso's at the end of games yet that's what it felt like we all were expecting of him, himself included. Right now Scola's our go-to man, and we've surrounded him with good shooters throughout. It's actually not a bad strategy since Scola is near impossible to defend one-on-one (he'll get the shot he wants). I was really frustrated with his inability to pass out of the trap, but I think he's gotten better at it in the past couple weeks as his role as go-to guy in the clutch has solidified.
Cant be serious. The Western Confernce was 10x tougher back then and Adelman's team had WAY more setbacks than the current squad. Adelman's team had TONS of injuries, Yao was in and out the lineup, we were starting a 6'6 center and Morey was shaking up the team every chance he got. With that, Adelman still held down fort. Not close
Back when? The last 2 years? Ummm, I don't know if you've noticed, but just take a look at the good/decent West team's in-conference records, then look at the East's in-conference records. The West pounds on the East, while the East struggles greatly with the West. Nothing has changed, the East is top heavy again while the West is deep with teams that would be in the playoffs save their Western location. This team is working with no practice, condensed scheduling, and they've had their share of injuries. I think even someone who has an Adelman fathead on their wall can recognize that McHale is doing an awesome job with a very similar roster and dilemmas.
It is always easier to dump the **** on coach and the GM. The players are playing. We are still short on talent in comparison to the Top 6 of the West.
I said before that McHale out of almost any coach in the league really coulda used the regular full summer league and preseason schedule to implement his brand on the team. Can you imagine your previous manager was well respected, then you're called back in to work on a RUSH to finish out a project in 1/3 the time, and the new manager is some lurch looking jackass guy who keeps talking about the old days and about hustle instead of schemes? This is after the BOSS just tried to ship your ass and 1/3 of the team OUT of there? Its a credit to a guy like Scola who keeps being professional through it as well. Also having battle tested veterans like Camby and Boykins helps.
Yeahaa an exclamation point for the season .......... Calls for a timeout, draws a play and yeehha suddenly Mcfails draws a play for the recently retired Antoine Walker all days long. Can i plz somehow gain an audition with Mcfail and tell him straight in the face that he failed for playing no D scola as C and Patterson together >>>>_<<<<
